I'd be very surprised if Microsoft are actively developing IE11 in any case. They will presumably keep issuing security patches, but any new functionality will be in the new Edge browser.

Not sure whether it is just me but it seems that with each major update to Windows 10, Internet Explorer seems to get increasingly glitchy, prone to freezing and generally more unreliable. Almost seems like it is a deliberate effort by MS to get users to switch browsers, preferably no doubt for MS to Edge.

Try slimjet. It is chrome based, so you can use those plugins for left side favourites.

It is fast (much faster than Firefox) and has a built in ad blocker. Has a built on spell checker, but many not know the difference between colour and color and says both are good.

I stopped bothering about sorting bookmarks into folders a long time ago. I now just type the first few letters of the bookmark into the address bar of Firefox and there it is. So much quicker than navigating through a folder structure.

Additionally you can assign labels to your bookmarks and the they will be found from the address bar too.

Also, try Opera v12.16 or .17 (available from filehippo still ;) )

You can have a a tab with your bookmarks open next to your homepage, which is very handy :)

Just have a look at the settings tab, as I believe by default the ad blocker is not enabled, and you may wish to change other settings too?

Opera was also good, and in the past (presumably now too?) you could turn on the free vpn feature and get to all those sites which are verboten in the UK, but I my opinion, it is not as fast with pages as slimjet
