Reading between the lines and adding a bit of a guess I would like to suggest that the people who are going around for the 3rd viewing are expected to offer more for the property than the OP did. It makes me think that the offer the OP made was in relation to what they could afford to pay and leave money for cosmetic improvements that they want to make rather than a more realistic offer based on the value of properties sold close by in the same area.
Cosmetic improvements are down to taste. Old fashioned kitchens that you can still cook in may not suit a buyer but may still be to the taste of the seller. A seller is not going to accept a low offer just because a buyer wants to put in a new kitchen.0
