Not unless the OP paid for searches in areas outwith the property they were buying. It's a common misconception,Your solicitor when you purchased should have pointed out the potential for development at the rear. The previous applications should have shown up on the searches.
But common sense and their own research should have provided the info anyway. It's hardly rolling pastureland!0 -
Would have been clear there was a 1/2 developed business site at the bottom of the garden, you would want to know the history and why it was not being used.
I think a chat with next door is in order they will probably be able to get the OP upto speed quickly.0
