Buyers solicitor working at a sloth pace

I won't bore you all with every details of our property sale, but our buyers solicitors seem to be working at a sloth's pace.

They send our buyer an email on 21st October (we saw through our Estate Agent) saying they are waiting on a few replies to queries (which my solicitor confirmed was not true, they had sent everything to them) and would contact my solicitor "next week".

It has now being 2 weeks and they send our buyers practically the same email again today!

I have been chasing my solicitor and they are adament they have sent everything over on 11th October (some stuff before!). I have relayed this to our estate agent who I thought would have been telling my buyer that as far as we were concerned, everything was answered. If they had any further questions then ask them.

The most ironic thing was earlier in the process, the EA said our solicitors were being slow because they hadn't responded to something for a day or two................!

Why oh why can't solicitors just work this out between themselves. Why does everyone else become involved?

Really I just want to know, is this normal or am I just getting a bit of bad luck here?

Ask (or instruct?) your solicitor to ring the buyer's solicitor to clarify which questions are outstanding.

The offer was accepted Mid-Late August

We have asked our solicitor to contact via email and phone our buyers solicitors. They tell me that they don't respond or seem to take the calls.

Obviously I am hearing this through them, but I have to have some faith in my solicitors that they are telling the truth.

Suppose I will just have to wait and see if they contact my solicitors this week. Definitely going to ring my solicitors Monday and say we should be expecting contact "early this week".

You could always tell the buyer (via agent) to Exchange by end of the week or you'll go back on the market.

Assuming you're sure the delay is on their side.

I have a vendors solicitor working at a very slow pace, I email or speak to my solicitor on a weekly basis. I am giving them one more week to get their act together and then I am bailing out.

It could be they're waiting on the mortgage lender to confirm they're happy with whatever has been thrown up by your solicitors response to queries.

This is where your EA should be pushing things along. They only get paid if the sale goes through so they have a vested interest in it happening. What do they think the problem is?

Get the estate agent to ask specifically what they are supposed to be waiting for. The exact pie e of paper or reply to which questions. Then take it up with your solicitor and if they believe they have responded then ask them to resend it.

Last time I moved there was an online system on my solicitors website. I could log in and view copies of all letters and attachments, so we knew exactly what was going on and what questions needed answering. I thought this was pretty standard these days.
