Manufacturing Operational reorganisation

After going through a factory closure less than two years and being redundant I managed to secure a similar role in Production Management a Blue Chip Soft Drinks Manufacturer.
On Wednesday the four Production Managers of which I am were called in by our boss who went through a PowerPoint presentation which outlined a proposed restructuring which would mean four going to two under a newly created position.
Is then any set criteria they need to use to decide who gets the two positions? As I've only been there less than two years, obviously I have less experience than the others and they don't need to pay out any redundancy so I look like an obvious choice to go even though my reviews have always been excellent.
Also, does the 30 day consultation start from when we were told as we have a week later not received any paperwork confirming this is going on. We all all keen for this process to be done quickly so do they have to take 30 days before deciding or can it be done quicker if we are happy for it to be done so?

Yes there would be criteria but it is just have to be fair. They can't just rely on last in first out as a selection criteria for instance.

Of the only redundancies are these, then yes, the consultation period can be terminated by mutual agreement. But are you sure you want to do that? It appears that you haven't discussed how the choice will be made, what the redundancy offer might be, whether there is any alternative employment available, and so on.0

Unfortunately, with less than 2 years service, they don't need to be fair to the OP as they can just kickk them out for any (non-discriminatory) reason0 -
