Air China suspended our tickets

Hi
Has anyone else experienced suspended tickets?
We booked through an online travel agent (I now know after reading this forum not a good idea) tickets from Heathrow to Bangkok leaving 21st December and coming back 1st Jan 2017. Booked end of September.
We then prebooked seats with AC. Last week travel agent phoned to say our tickets were cancelled because of a 'government issue'. We said about the seats and we're told yo phone AC. They said our flights were 'suspended'. They have since emailed to say our seats were suspended at the Beijing office and we shoul contact them by phone.
Any thoughts or suggestions? We've now rebooked with Emirates but it's Gatwick not Heathrow and costs a bit more. We'd also prebooked our parking at Heathrow which we will change to Gatwick.
Thanks.

Surely the agent should have arranged alternative flights for you.0

The agent is HolidayXpert their 'invoicing' isn't clear but seems to add up when you take the individual figures
The agents t&c say our agreement is with the airline not them. I know-naive and we found out after the trouble.
They've rebooked us with another airline but it's from Gatwick not Heathrow and the return date has been extended a couple of days.0
