Crown paint - discontinued colour ?

I want to freshen my daughter's bedroom up with the same shade of paint, but having trouble tracking down the colour.

I'm pretty sure it was from the Crown Indulgence range and was last painted in 2009. I don't know if they have change the colour choices in that range much since but I can't seem to find the right match.

I have tried contacting Crown through their website but they haven't replied.

Just wondered if anyone here had any ideas. I know at a pinch I could take a photo of the wall on my phone and try and get another brand to colour match but I'm not convinced I won't end up with a completely different shade.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Don't paint mixers promise to match any colour? Just take the wall down to B&Q. :D

    Sorry, is anything removable painted?

  • If you can remember the colour name, you should be able to get it mixed somewhere that does Crown mixing.

IF you take a sample from the current wall, remember it wont be the fresh colour you remember.

A phone won't have very good colour rendition on the screen, and the internal software is highly unlikely to be calibrated for colour matching. If you do take a snap, you have absolutely no chance of getting close to a match.

Getting a new pot of paint from the same range and colour is also unlikely to match - Different batches will be slightly different. Your best bet is to get something similar and repaint the whole room.

Nothing removable in that colour - hacking down a bit of wall will then require more than a paint job.:rotfl:

If only I could remember the colour name. I know Dulux will mix up any of their discontinued colours but I don't even recall ever seeing Crown offering a mixing service anywhere.

I know the colour will have altered slightly but as well as really liking it, I'm hoping to get away with a one coat touch up!

What are the chances of any forumites having the 2009 colour chart?

I was going to make some joke about my colour charts being so old they're in black & white, then I looked in the filing cabinet & found a 2008 Crown colour chart! I've found the Indulgence page, what sort of colour is it? If you say "creamy" there's about 8 to choose from.

If you go to a DIY store that mixes paint you get colour strips showing all the possible shades they can mix - get a few, take them home and pick the best match.
  • If you can chip a piece out from an out of sight wall.
Take it to a B&Q and they will put it under a spectrometer (hope that is what it's called) and they will mix up a paint pot size or a full tin of the exact colour.
I have done this and am very happy with the result.

    Good luck

Wow EssexExile you might be my saviour yet!!!

I would describe the colour as rich cookie dough kind of colour.

I would imagine it would be in the cream or neutrals section. Could you let me know the names of any of the colours that fit that description.

Rich cookie dough? I'm a man, I don't do cooking. That's the worst section - so many, see if any of these ring a bell: mocha, chocolate comtesse, walnut, silk gown, tiramisu. You can see chocolate comtesse if you Google it.

Try some strong clear sellotape - it may pull enough off to match.
