  • Are you being victimised?

    I'd say so.

Hold out for at least a ballroom and orangery to go with your 6 bedrooms.

    Coz you're worth it <3

Don't forget to save up for a large plaque with the house's name on it 'Entitled'.

OP, Did you misspell your name?.... shouldn't it be Trier? :)
  • I'd go in and ask housing how many 5 and 6 bed houses they have on their lists. I doubt its many. Then how often do they come up for reletting. They just can't give you what they don't have.

Be a bit more realistic.., and then start thinking how you can make the available space work best for you. Most people would like more room.., very few can have it so we do just have to make the best of it. Bunk beds exist for a reason.., why should you not use them like other people do?

Lets face it, 100 years ago it was quite common to have 10 children in 2 bed houses and worse. Now we'd hold our hands up in horror. But maybe we've gone too far in the opposite direction.

Having hit a wall in my family research a couple of years ago, I decided to spend an entertaining afternoon tracing the life of my house! It is a four bedroom, over three floors, Victorian terrace. I had always assumed that, being bigger, the occupants would be better off than many working class, although certainly still very much "ordinary folk". In fact, the house, about that 100 years ago that you mention, had three families in it! Parents, with 7 (living) children (three died in early years); a maternal grandmother; the paternal grandparents; and the wife's brother (who appears to have had some form of disability although I couldn't identify what). That is 13 people in four bedrooms, with a "best room" at the front ground floor and a family living kitchen at the back. I live on my own. I am never going to complain about the lack of space again!!! :rotfl:

Erm. Four floors! The not entirely underground cellar is also tanked and forms two further rooms. And I'm afraid so. Still worried about lack of wall space! I'm afraid that my house resembles an ethnic museum. People have been known to be lost for hours, exploring!

Yeah, ok. But I can afford my space, so if I want to complain about it, I can:D I wonder, should I convert the garage, do you think?

Okay, I'm the first to admit my life as not been as successful as some, but I have had fun and circumstances have never fell into place.
I have four kids, 3 different mothers but I take care of all.
All I want is a house to big enough for my current girlfriend(long term over 2 years), and my children, plus 2 lovely kids of Kylies.
The council, I won't say which, only offer a four bed, but I need at least a 5, if not a 6 for comfort, and quality of life.
I have had various jobs, even one lasting over 18 months, in which I contributed to the rent, with only a small subsidy from the council, but this seem to mean nothing in their eyes.
Surely I deserve better than what they last offered me, a desultory detached corner house with only 4 bedrooms on a loud and noisy main road into the city?
I just feel so let down, and don't know where to turn.
But you can't without the help of the council to provide a house large enough. Think yourself lucky they have offered you a 4 bedroom one.

Precisely what have you done to deserve better?
