The one posted here earlier is the one of the best for money at the minute:

But if the games they are playing are Minecraft and similar, then any of the ones posted here will be ok.

I am after a pc too, but am waiting for the Cyber Black Friday deals to start.

Thank you, where are you looking to buy the pc from on Cyber Black Friday?

Yes, the desktop i3's are good value for money as they're dual core with hyperthreading (which makes them good at multitasking) and they have a decent high clock speed so the lack of turboboost isn't an issue. Conversely the mobile i3's are often not a good buy vs the i5's as they start off at a low clock speed and can't clock themselves up like the i5 and i7's can.

When I was building a second gaming PC as an under the TV machine I went with a similar spec, an i3 4xxx and GTX 760 and it was a good gaming machine, I think to get an i3 and GTX 960 for that price is extremely good.

My only concern is that the two games you've mentioned are both on PS4's which is much cheaper and split screen gaming on the same TV is a lot hassle than setting up two PC's to game with each other.

Thank you I will definitely look at the i3 then.

They are adamant that its PC's they would like (i'm thinking of school work too as at the moment we only have one laptop which I use so a PC each would be ideal there too)

I'm keeping an eye out on HUKD over the period, however, Mesh computers currently have an 'early' black friday and 10% off all pcs atm.

    Work it backwards.

Define what games you want to play then work it back from that by researching the games minimum hardware specs.

CPU/GPU balance is very game dependent too. The higher end titles will stress the CPU as much as the GPU, although the general advice about a decent GPU is correct.
Those are my principals, and if you don't like them well...I have others...

I wonder if something like this is going to be a reasonable purchase around your £300ish budget

    http://www.ebuyer.com/735891-zoostorm-quest-desktop-pc-7260-5189
A PC with a built-in graphics card and not a separate one - many gamers will spend your entire budget on a graphocs card alone - but I think this PC will play the games you have mentioned fine.

Add Microsoft Windows 10 for around £80-90

And its a touch over £300

Many of the reviews mention this being a good starter gaming machine for the money - some adding GPU (Separate graphics card) later.

Or, as already mentioned, keep an eye out on Black Friday however if you are not entirely sure what you are looking for then finding something and clicking 'buy' x 2 might be stressful just incase its not right!

Thank you - I was going to try and hang on until black Friday, but like you say, may be more stressful than its worth as not sure I would be able to click buy it now x2

with the above system, would I be able to upgrade the graphics card in the future if I needed to?

Also, adding an operating system, is it simple as in really simple or would I struggle?

    TIA
  • just bumping incase any come up on black Friday deals :D
  • Just wondered if anyone had spotted a good deal today?
    TIA :D
