  • Today will be slightly more productive than the last two - there is some weeding and other outside maintenance that is long overdue. It's cold but sunny, so I will wrap up warm and get stuck in. Next week I will start the clean up and selling of the hobby items, it will be a big project and probably take the entire week.

I've had a few surveys pay out - it all seems to be coming at once! But they are Amazon vouchers rather than cash, I now have £35 sitting in my account which is a rather nice feeling.

Later this afternoon I am determined to sit down with a book and a cup of tea for an hour before starting on dinner.
  • Hi Misty,

Nice to see you're positivity is back :)

Fancy doing my weeding when you've done yours? lol

Love the idea of the book and a cuppa, must make more time to do that in the new house x
  • Thanks PMo2! I hate weeding, though does anyone like it? It makes such a difference though, it instantly turned the outside space from looking rundown and uncared for into neat and tidy. It took longer than expected though so I only managed a half hour with my book. It's funny how extravagant it feels to read for pleasure during the day - I didn't feel guilty this time and enjoyed the moment.

I have a rare day of work - it's usually evenings only. I won't be doing anything other than making dinner when I get home and having a quiet night in.
  • Errands this morning, when I get home this afternoon I am planning on gathering up some of the hobby items, cleaning and photographing them and finding somewhere to list them. I suspect it will end up being evilbay but will try classified type ads first.
  • The afternoon didn't go as planned and I didn't get any of the items out or photograph them. Today there are other things that need doing so I am going to aim for Wednesday to start collecting the stuff together. It's hard to not feel I've failed somehow but it's a good exercise for me to face and accept that things beyond my control will happen and that does not mean the world will end etc. because I didn't get something done when I wanted to, and it certainly does not make me a failure!

It doesn't mean that you've failed at all - it means that something else came along that needed to be prioritised higher in importance than the job you had in mind - and that sort of flexibility is something necessary.

I sometimes find weeding quite satisfying - seeing the "before and after" right in front of your nose as you work can be quite rewarding. (However, that doesn't necessarily mean I do it - our little plot looks dreadful at the moment!)

  • As EH says, not a failure at all, just a slight detour that's all xx
  • I've had a fairly productive couple of days, but none of it has involved getting the items ready to sell. :o

I've picked up a couple of sideline jobs that need to be completed by next weekend that don't involve the bits of equipment that I sold. I was talking to a friend about not doing the sideline until I had replaced the equip and he pointed out that there were still things I could do that didn't actually need it, they are lower paying but much better than doing nothing. It's another example of the answer staring me in the face and me not being able to see it. I need to learn be more creative about thinking my way around obstacles.

I don't actually feel a failure, the hobby things will be sold soon enough and payment from these two jobs will get me 1/4 of the way towards buying what I need. It will also give me more experience, more references and more confidence to go out and get more work.

The warmer weather is lovely, I'm nearly feeling 100% and taking very few painkillers, long may it last! I am being very mindful of not overdoing things this time and am starting to enjoy taking things a bit slower. :)

I woke up late, thank goodness the postman was loud! I turned off my alarm for the Easter school break but now think this may have been a mistake. :o

There is a problem with our tax credit payment - we received a letter on Friday and I gather this is happening to a lot of people at the moment. The payment we normally would have received today has not gone in, hub keeps hopefully checking but it's always in first thing in the morning on the first working day of the month. We'll need to sort this out today or tomorrow or the SWHTF in a big way.

I have lots to be getting on with, I'm still working on the projects that are due on Saturday. After they are done I will have the time to sort out the hobby items.

It's a lovely sunny day here, I hope it's sunny where you are, too!
  • Sorry to hear your benefits have been stopped, hope you can get that sorted with them quickly.
