Hyundai IX35 clutch / gearbox problems

FWIW I spoke to the independent mechanic we use on our cars. Son was looking for cars, including Hyundai models. His comment was they are very reliable, the only work they seem to get on them is clutches.

Kevin your issue sounds the same as I had earlier this year. 14 plate ix35 with 63000 miles. In March I had similar problems getting in and out of certain gears. Put it in to the dealer who diagnosed issues with the syncro rings which were replaced under warranty.


This week I couldnt get it in gear at all. Back in to the dealer who have advised the clutch needs replaced. Their view is its normal wear and tear and not covered under warranty. £700 bill to replace it!


Hopefully you should get yours fixed under warranty.

I have a 2014 IX35 with 52k miles and full dealer history. It has just started to crunch when selecting 6th gear.

Hi I was driving my 2011 Hyundai ix35 today whilst I have had a stiff gearstick for a few days. Today it finally gave up and I was only able to select 1st and reverse gear. When trying to change to other gears it lets me but when the clutch is released it just grinds and gives no power. Does anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it as my dad is a mechanic but doesn’t work on Hyundai’s very often or gearboxes but could possibly do the work if we knew what was wrong?
