The Call Guardian based phone I bought has worked perfectly from day one and I have received absolutely no unwanted calls since installing it. Perhaps you could explain exactly what the "well known scam" is because it isn't well known enough for me to be aware of it.
Another vote for any phone with Call Guardian - bear in mind you do need to have caller display activated and that can cost £3 ish per month. The one I have (and that I have installed for several elderly neighbours) has a function that allows switchboards through if the caller states their name and presses the # key - something that automated calls are not able to do. The recipient can then press 1, 2, 3 or 4 on their own phone to accept once, always accept, block permanently or send to ansaphone.

The "well known scam" (clearly not so well known then) is where the scammer phones you and offers to prevent cold calling (just like they did!) if you part with money or credit card details. Of course it doesn't work.

Ah - the reason I've never come across that is because I have a call blocking phone.... :)

  • We used to get bombarded with scam calls until we bought a phone with call guardian on it. As above the caller has to state who they are and so far no scammer has bothered. Even if they do get through you can just block the number.. Its great..You can add your families numbers so they just come through as normal. no on going costs once you have purchased the phone.
