Really the Microsoft computer scam is so old it's pensionable; I can't believe they're still trying to scam people with it, but I suppose there could be someone who's never heard of it and gets taken in by it, or they wouldn't bother.

There is a new version - caller claims to be from BT and says your internet will be disconnected, and they need access to your computer.

The Microsoft content has actually altered over the years, but can't remember exactly what was/is being claimed.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Ah well, at least they're using a different script!

Oh joy......can't wait for that one; it will enable me to lead them on even more and be even more rude and abusive to them!! :j
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

I had a cold call this week, some chap asking me if I've got funeral cover.

Without blinking I told him I had 3 months to live and somebody else was dealing with my funeral for me ... he couldn't get off the phone fast enough.

I tell the ms scammers that I have Linux Ubuntu on my computer. They hang up. When I am home during the day and the phone goes it is always a time waster of some sort. Why do I bother answering??

OH by the way - have you heard about the new kitchen / windows and doors scrapage scheme? we keep getting calls and sms text messages to the landline about it!!

Ha ha, love the time wasting game, think I'll give that a go....searching the house for a whacking great screen, hard drive & keyboard then claiming it couldn't be found, very funny.

I'm a bit mindful of time differences with India, don't want some stroppy g!t there to start making his nuisance calls at an ungodly hour of the morning here.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

My son has the perfect screening service; it's called 'a child'! My grandson, aged 7 loves talking on the phone, so he gets to answer and screen all calls. He even manages to keep some of these callers in conversation.

Receipt of scam phone calls is the only time I let my daughter make a ton of noise in the house. As soon as I know its one of them, I pass her the phone, cover my ears and she either blows a very loud whistle down the phone or screams into it. The caller soon cuts off!

I hate any kind of cold-calling, scam or not!

Foreign based callers ignore TPS and ex directory means nothing when autodialers just step through every possible number. I can think of better ways to amuse myself than stringing "your PC has a virus" and the like callers.

If junk calls annoy you just get a call blocking phone - I did a few years back and they are a thing of the past for me.

I have tried a notice on the door asking junk mailers to cut out the middle man and put their stuff in the recycling bin behind them but that doesn't seem to work. Can you buy junk mail blocking letterboxes?

Just be aware call blocking services are a well known scam.

The Call Guardian based phone I bought has worked perfectly from day one and I have received absolutely no unwanted calls since installing it. Perhaps you could explain exactly what the "well known scam" is because it isn't well known enough for me to be aware of it.
