I think if my estate agent had not contacted me and definitly if they did not return my calls I would take my business else where. Yes times are tough to sell a house but that sounds like disgraceful customer service!

our hourse been on m,arket for 1.5 years now estate agent havent contacte dus since christmas 07 so ours is still on at full price as they havent sadvised us of anything! lmao needless to say no interest!

this happened to me to. I put my house on for sale and haven't heard a dickie bird from them in 3 months. i think its criminal they get paid for what they do. My house is still on market but actually don't care because i'm on BRT mortgage and its very low. But they are ridiculous.

My friend says that she doesn't even bother to look at houses that aren't in her price range. ie that people have theirs on at unrealistic prices. Mine is on 20k less than houses around me and it hasn't made a difference but I got one viewing in 6months and they got none even though they prob would have taken a much lower price.

I think people need to get more realistic with the prices they have on. And people know if a house has been on for a while. If you really want to sell, sell it at a lower price but it'll up to you to ring EA.

I agree with missma, call them and demand that they work for the money you're paying or take your business elsewhere! Good luck.

Thanks for the list of areas, do you know what dunraven is like?

Do your research on that one. I'm aware of issues in that area in recent years but they may have gone away now.

No i do mean 5% deposit, banks are lending. Bank of Ireland, Northern Bank. But they are looking at job and ability to repay and in some instances parent as guarantor. But they are lending again to FTB.

Oh can you find out who their mortgages are with??

I'm a FTB, have a deposit although not the 15-25% any lenders are asking for and I cant get a mortgage with a decent rate anywhere!

I'm in the NICS also so a relatively stable job and have been renting for 6years now so have the affordablity and stability I thought banks would be looking for, my own 3 financial advisors (I've good contacts) told me to save this year and buy next year with a bigger deposit.

So I'm currently moving back to the folks to save my rent money and bills to have the bigger deposit, would absolutely love to know where they got the morrgages from as I might investigate further

    TIA

Consider the words of your financial advisors. You have been saved a fortune already through not being able to get a mortgage. Why would you want to buy atm with only a 5% deposit?? I am saving like mad and will not buy before 2010 at the very earliest, this thing has a long way to run yet. I aim to buy with about a 50% deposit and have a nice low mortgage and pay it off quickly.

If you can find a 95% mortgage and decide to go ahead, good luck. ;)
