Not personally but my son runs his own company and all his vehicles are fitted with one of these (or similar) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Mini-GPS-Tracker-Magnetic-Car-Vehicle-Spy-Personal-Tracking-Device-TK102-UK-/111906499015?hash=item1a0e25a9c7:g:fI8AAOSwawpXv8Ws

I believe he has them hard wired to the electrics and never heard him mention any problems.

Trackers are a bit pointless as the criminal will park them in a street over night to see if the Police turn up, the Police usually don't bother because they know they'd be wasting resources and screwing up their crime stats without actually catching anyone.

Utter rubbish, which of course you cannot back up with a shred of evidence.

Completely useless as a security device. OP, if it's a condition of your insurance to have a tracker, or you're just worried about theft in general, then you want a Thatcham approved device that is professionally fitted. Have a look at https://www.swiftrak.co.uk - I've used these before.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Let's say that was true then if my car got stolen all I would have to do is look on the tracker to see where it was and go and get it (using the second set of keys if they stole the first set).
  • I was thinking of just buying those cheap discs that you hide in the car and locate with a phone app.
As for police not finding cars with trackers, once activated by company it pings in every police car eqipt when gets near, until turned off, I'm sure by now the crims have some blockers though

The OP didn't mention security, neither did I. My son uses them in his vehicles to track their journey locations. That it is the purpose of trackers.

When I used to be more involved in car Insurance, some of my clients with certain types of cars eg Evos and M3s would pay extra to avoid Insurers who insisted on Trackers. Their thinking was if someone stole their car, they would not want it back after it had been ragged, they would rather receive a pay out.

I've also had client's who think they are the bees knees as their cars were recovered undamaged within a few days

No, it doesn't. It doesn't work here at all.

And surely the SOS button's a bit pointless? Put it somewhere easily accessible, and it's going to get found and ripped out in seconds. Put it somewhere hidden, and you can't press the button.

Anyway, now these devices are getting so cheap (£15), their other purpose is coming to light. There's been quite a few reports this year of valuable classic cars having these stuck somewhere at shows, so their storage can be located, for later theft.
