30th anniversary holiday

Evening all,

Looking for some inspiration and suggestions please. DH & I have our 30th wedding anniversary early September next year so we're looking for somewhere special to spend 7 or 8 days.

We had originally thought we'd go to the Caribbean for 2 weeks but a couple of things have altered those plans so we're thinking of Europe, perhaps a Greek island.

What we'd like is adult only, preferably all inclusive in a small to medium sized hotel (no more than 250 rooms if possible) with at least one good sized pool, not too far from a town and with good food etc. Budget probably around £3k for us both & we can fly from any London airport. Neither of us fancies a cruise although I wouldn't totally discount one if it had everything I was looking for, number of rooms excepted!

Am I looking for something which doesn't exist or is there something out there that would really suit?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • We have celebrated our 30th anniversary this September on the tiny Portugese Island of Porto Santo staying at the 5 star Columbus hotel. Porto Santo is a beautiful Island 9miles of golden sands lovely climate and wonderful people it is known as Portugals best kept secret and many reviews say that the beach is like a caribbean Island but without the long haul flight. The Columbus is a adult only 5 star all inclusive such a beautiful peaceful hotel and is in the same complex as its sister Hotel Pestana which is for family's although I'm not sure how many rooms it has . The Island is only 9 miles by 4 miles and such a beautiful place we could not fault one minute of our holiday and felt it was such a special place to celebrate our 30th anniversary I certainly will return to this wonderful ISland before it's secret is let out to the world .

Not at all, we like it for the convenience it brings. We've not done AI in Europe, only the Caribbean and we're not averse to going out for lunch or dinner whilst on an AI holiday. We've done several B&B holidays so eat out for lunch and dinner but sometimes we just don't want the faff of finding somewhere.

I said preferably AI, that doesn't mean it has to be as we would look at other options if everything else was right.

    Thanks.

Ok btw BA launched flights from London to Zakynthos and Pula yesterday, the starting prices might be good, also look at their flight+hotel deals.
September is perfect in Europe, it's well worth a thorough search.
Costa Smeralda and Elounda are also worth a look.

  • Hawaii island of Maui, resort town of Lahaina.

Not adults only but there are few children about in September and you can choose from a serviced apartment or a full blown hotel.

Kihei or Kahului are bigger towns but not as quiet for obvious reasons.

Where did you get married? Can you base the holiday around that, will that fit in with the brief?

Um, we got married in a suburban church but we honeymooned in Dubrovnik so I have already thought of going back.

    Thanks for the suggestion :-)

Nice suggestion but perhaps a little too long a trip for 7-9 days but if we had longer I'd certainly look at it.
