Thank you again to everyone for taking the time to reply and sharing their experiences. Carolwat, I am delighted to hear you've now had a successful round of IVF. I'm sure it was incredibly difficult when you found out about the donor recipients conceiving.
I think I will need to put my plans on hold for a while due to now having to receive treatment for abnormal smear results. I am unsure as to how long this will take and if it will affect my chances of successfully donating but time will tell.

It seems I'm in the minority, but my experience of IVF was easy from start to finish. The injections were a doddle and didn't really hurt, I had no side effects from any of the drugs apart from headaches that stopped when I lowered the dose of one tablet, I had no mood swings at all, the egg collection was super simple, I had no bloating or weight gain at any point, and the clinic appointments were really easy to schedule around my work and I didn't need to take a single hour off work throughout the entire process. But I only ended up with 6 eggs, and I imagine those who produce 6 times that many might have more issues.

It doesn't always have to be difficult, though going into it expecting it to be as easy as it was for me might not be very sensible. It's a lovely thing to consider doing though.

Carolwat - I'm so glad it was eventually successful for you. I always said I'd never be able to donate eggs simply because it would kill me if it worked for someone else and not me.
