Extension - customary to give a gift?

I think it's a lovely gesture actually. Good for you. We've just had quite a substantial extension added to the house. The joiners have been here for 3 months and due to finish on Fri. We've never had anything like this done before so we're wondering if it's norma to give a token thank you gift at the end? We were thinking a few crates of beer at the end to share amongst him and his boys but is that OTT?0 -
