Hinge on kitchen cupboard door

Hello
One of these hinges has come off my kitchen cupboard door, and taken some of the chipboard with it:

It looks like someone previously glued it as there is some kind of solvent stuck to the hinge. There is now a gap in the cupboard where the hinge and some of the chipboard was. Is this a job for something like Gripfill? Or I believe you can get a metal plate to patch the door?
I have recently moved my kitchen bin to this cupboard and so it looks like it was attached quite weakly, but because I have been using the cupboard more it has broken. I don't have anywhere else to fit the bin.

Could you post a picture of the damage so someone can advise the best repair?0

grip-fill as in instant nails? Nah.. you need a proper wood filler.. fill the hole, wait till solid & screw in new/old hinge, that's all there is to it.
Metal plate isn't really needed..0 -
Hinge repair plates are good for repairing loose hinges to the cabinet but not to the door. I've never tried a repair plate for doors.

Would it be best to just screw the hinge higher up?0
