That's one reason I miss Virgin Media.

With them you can have broadband over cable without the need for a landline too.

Now they have to include Line Rental in the advertised prices BT command £49.99/month for their top end Infinity product-and that's before the likes of BT Sport, TV etc.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • The ISP I use do not even require you to take line rental with them and I'm pretty sure most of their customers don't. This ruling is ridiculous.

if thats so, why are line rental changes still going up and up if the infrastructure is being funded by the EU. which ultimately means we're paying for it twice.
Line rental charges from BT Openreach have been decreasing under the orders of OFCOM for quite a few years now. Openreach have been getting less money every year for supplying the lines and infrastructure to support them.
What has happened is that every ISP has been increasing their margin on the Openreach line rental and not passing on the savings to the customers. So put the blame where it belongs - your ISP

Some people do not want internet, so providers still need a landline price.

Now the poor souls who couldn't add internet and line cost will have to do 'take away sums' (which are much harder:rotfl:), in order to work out the internet charge from the landline and inclusive prices. Ah, I found something for them to moan about.

Offers all round now, are pathetic. I wonder if things will improve , after a settling in period, but the trouble is that they have us hooked.

Interestingly, it seems like Landline + ADSL contract prices have "taken one for the team".

OTOH Landline + Fibre BB prices seem to have settled down at a premium of around £5pm, where not all that long ago, they were £10pm.

It's an ill wind... and all that.

No use if your area isn't fibre enabled, though.

    Where are those deals?

Last week Sky Fibre Unlimited was £10pm, now £20pm.

BT Infinity 1 last week was £10.99pm , now £21.99pm.

Ah I get you now. You're meaning Fibre is £5pm more expensive than ADSL.

Still would rather have had last week's prices as Infinity 1 was £29.98 including LR.

I only keep a voice service on my landline phone for my parents to call. I could otherwise move the line from BT retail to my ISP, who provide line rental for broadband use only for £10/month (no voice service on the line). But with them it is optional, you don't have to take both so this rule on advertising is just silly, as are the people that wanted it.
