Afternoon folks.
My day was fine. Took the woman to the docs, though when I arrived she answered the door almost naked. Happily she'd found her keys and watch so was happier. It was a short trip to the docs and I was back home by 12.30. Whilst I was waiting in the surgery a woman came in who was sobbing and sobbing and sobbing. No idea why. Everyone did the typical British thing and looked away and embarrassed. On my way out I went back and gave her a hug, that made her cry more. As I left she called out 'thanks for the hug'. She may be well known in the village and does this often, I don't know but just couldn't let someone in distress be ignored. Phew!
OH been for a drive around, I'm marking and watching the sky turn darker and darker. Waiting for the one local child to make his scary appearance.0 -
Busy day today; we've been and taken a load of stuff to the local animal charity shop for our Samhain Giveaway - decluttering stuff that no longer has a place in our lives, but could do others some good.
I have never really done much research into pagan festivities but it's interesting to note that I got an urge to purge today! I was reading my mindfulness book and it was talking about living for the moment, and when I went to do my 15 mins meditation, the only thought that was coming up was the get rid of more things that I don't need anymore - it wouldn't go away and I couldn't sit still. So I got rid of a few more boxes of stuff from under my bed and in my wardrobe and really have nearly everything minimised now. It made me feel a lot better, despite the back ache! I also made some really yummy bread with flax seeds, which I have as part of my packed tea tonight. On that topic, LameWolf your dinner sounds really delicious!Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints!0 -
Just put my basket of goodies by the front door - meringue ghosties (thanks Islandmaid), chocolate biscuit witches hats (with bronze sparkle) and bats with red glitter eyes and black glitter wings
, now waiting for the scary visitors with a glass of wine and an old GBBO from 2014.

Hi I'm back sorry posting has been so intermittent but I've not been very well. Life is getting in the way again. It's my Grandma s funeral on Wednesday and as its at 2 I'm letting the teens have the whole day off school so school informed. My husband's job saga continues they've now asked him to stay till end of November and maybe even till Christmas shutdown.!! Stressful to say the least. Have stocked up and got most Christmas presents already as only have a few to buy.
Kids shattered. Son back from Milton Keynes yesterday where he's been since Wednesday. Daughter has been at a scout camp over the weekend so no sleep and Extra washing. Made the most of Saturday and went on the Severn Valley Railway with our dog. Took picnic ,drinks and flask. The autumn colours were spectacular. Cheap pub for tea.
Today has been spent washing which is finishing off in Dribuddi . Tea is a mini roast. Vanilla slices my daughter was making went wrong so it's chocolate cake for dessert.
Hugs to those who want/ need them. I'm hibernating as hate trick or treaters.0 -
Samhain blessings to all. No 'trick or treaters' for us, there are no children within a mile radius or more. Not much to be heard from fireworks as they are illegal....... some people take a trip to NI.
Lainey, you are in my thoughts......been there so know how you are feeling.
Been a lovely day here, which is a change for a bank holiday.
Will have DDIL1 and DGD2 tomorrow, just for one night as they havent seen DGD6 yet, although DGD may wait and go home with her Daddy on Thursday night.
Spoke to DD3 today, Baby Samhain is due on 13th and she is of the opinion that the birth will be that day....it is her first! I cant wait for 12th Dec when we go over, just need to get our travel insurance and Australian visas sorted.
Ivy....take it easy pet, you willbe fine.
Stay safe and well everybody.

Samhain blessings to all x
Started off foggy but it turned into a glorious day, two loads of washing dried on the line
Had to go to town to pick up the rest of my prescription only to find one of my items that was ordered for me was given to someone else  plus they were still one box of insulin short, so I won't be using that chemist again.
Was wandering round Poundland (Or NOT Poundland as it is now known around here) and an elderly gentleman stopped me and asked if I had about £12 of stuff in my basket, I was a bit puzzled, but I said yes I did and he pushed a £2 coupon from the paper into my hand and said he had been looking around to see if anyone would like it, God Bless him.
Went into Asda and got two large boxes of washing powder that were reduced to £1.20 each :j
When I got home I just had a cuppa and something to eat when DH got home and we started putting the garden to bed, so now all the raised beds are cleared ready for manuring and layering with topsoil and compost and that should be lovely and rich by February. We moved the pots of apple trees on to the patio and I gave everything a good watering. DH needs to sort out the woodstore because DS just plonked the new logs on top of the old logs
Then I had to de-rust and season the cast iron pot and skillet, that had been put in the shed, so now theey are being kept in the utility room. I will do them again tomorrow and they should be fine.
Had about twenty Trick or Treaters and even had lots of sweets left. They disappeared in a very short time, not by me, by my sprogs :rotfl::rotfl:
Quite a productive day for a change
Right off to bed, sweet dreams all
Nightie Night xxSaveBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
