i am doing a version of the movie night in hamper for dh. so far my ideas to put in are: dvd, jamie oliver new book (dh loves jamie oliver), chocs, bottle bulmers cider and pringles/minstrels. cos we cant go out very often weve started to enjoy a nice film together on our nights off work (only two in a week), so thought this owuld be nice idea.
plus dh tends to favour scary films, which, i DONT! so, thought i can get a nice romantic chic flic!

If you live anywhere near an Indian grocers shop they always have the cheapest spices, so if you are near to Southall or somewhere with a large Asian population, try there. Trouble is, they usually come in large bags but are so reasonable you could decant them into smaller containers and have enough for several hampers, you do need lots of friends and relatives who like curry though! My mother in law once had a lovely gift from her neighbour, spices decanted into a divided metal container which her Indian neighbour bought from Southall.
Same if you are near China Town, the chinese supermarkets have very reasonable ingrediants and things like bamboo steamers and chop sticks which are much less expensive than those on the high streets. Might be worth a special trip.0 -
