Lady1964 - personally I would ignore the 2 posters above who appear to have no regard for the concept of decency. It's an easy task to be overbearing and righteous when one has a keyboard to hide behind and one doesn't have to fret over the consequences of a face to face encounter.

People come here for help and one would suppose that contributors with posts in the thousands would have a better grasp of the principles of diplomacy. So, shame on them for the rough-handling you have received!

Myriddin, this thread has nothing to do with this forum, no point in adding to it

That may well be the case BG, but that does not excuse a lack of civility on the part of some posters.

And I'll repeat what I put in an earlier thread. I looked around the forums for the right place to post, I saw this had the word 'parking' & as my thread was about parking, this seemed to be the most appropriate forum.

I'm sorry for straying to a forum where it seems I'm not welcome.

I just came across this thread - I'm sorry you have been treated in the way you have.:(

I'm glad you've got your problem with inconsiderate parking resolved and agree that having your dropped kerb extended may be your best course of action.:T

As far as the real purpose of this forum - If you ever become the victim of a private parking company then please come back here, you will find many friendly posters willing to offer help and advice.:j:j

I didn't say he'd illegally parked, just that he was parked inconsiderately.

Actually, he's parked very considerately. He hasn't blocked off the dropped kerb, but then neither has he parked in such a way as to take up more space than was necessary, which would have been inconsiderate to other road users. I often travel to a hospital where the only choices are to pay a fortune to park, or use the side of a road about 800m long, however the amount of inconsiderate parkers who take 50-75% more space than they need means many poorly people have to fork out additional money for the privilege of being sick.

The fact is, we all pay road tax and are all entitled to park on public roads that do not have parking restrictions.

    Incorrect.

The forum header is "parking tickets, fines & parking".
  • I'm sorry people, but even if this lady gets her dropped kerb extended it legally won't make any difference. Earlier this year my next door neighbour had his done at a cost of approximately £1000 in an attempt to stop me parking my work van outside our two adjoined houses (he wants to leave his work van there despite his van fitting on his drive and mine being too wide to go on mine), so we had a little parking 'war'. The day he had it dropped I pulled up and parked with the last 18 inches or so overlapping his new extended dropped kerb. He immediately stomped around and demanded I move the van from the front of what used to be his lawn. I refused, an argument ensued and he called the police. He put his side, I put mine and the copper said he couldn't make me move my van as I wasn't blocking his original drive and wasn't committing an offence or causing any obstruction.
Must really pee him off everyday when he sees my van parked partially across his newly widened 'drive'.........:rotfl:

He was inconsiderate, almost the entire road was free of cars at 10.30am, my car was on my drive, he partially blocked my car in. I still don't get why he parked in that way when he could have parked outside his house, outside either of his neighbours houses, across the road (it's a cul de sac so not a wide road). Just by my house is a wide driveway width piece of land which belongs to the council, there's no house there, that space was empty when he parked. Parking there wouldn't have impacted on anyone.

I know he can park where he likes if his car is taxed, but surely consideration for your neighbours isn't too much to expect, particularly if it gets left there for 24 hours.

Urgh - I was hoping to do this with my neighbours daughter always parking her car in between our houses. Not because it annoys me (she has every right to park there) but we live on a busy road and trying to get our car on or off the drive with her car there is really awkward with the speed of the traffic. Her car drastically reduces visibility
