Insurance Payout - Help!!!

Update.
The insurers contacted us, leaving a message on our home 'phone asking us to ring back to an 0870 number which I thought was a flipping cheek. However, OH was at work so he rang them. It is his car anyway so really they should be negotiating with him. They made an offer of £1,000, which was £400 less than they said originally. That was also on the basis that we keep the car. OH made a conference call to me as it was to me they gave the original indication. It was a different girl from Diamond and she said she could not understand where the original figure had come from and I repeated the conversation to her. She said she would need to check with the assessor but that maybe they could go to £1200. OH would have accepted that before as it was still twice what we expected. She said she would get back to us.
OH then spent ages going through car websites and put together a spread sheet of values and percentages to show that the £1400 was correct. He e-mailed that to them and they have now agreed to pay that figure and collect the car.
For us that is a good result and of course it also confirms their admission of liability.0 -
Pleased to hear that you got a good result in the end. It goes to show that a bit of persistence and research goes a long way when dealing with insurers.0
