Smithy Bridge near Rochdale has countryside as well as train links to Manchester and Leeds.0

Oldham is a good option. CLose to the M62 in places. Chadderton in particular - Some nice new build houses in your budget.0

Definitely agree with Chadderton, having lived there for 17 years!
Would say that the public transport / job location would have a major influence on the final place to live, I worked in Salford Quays (30 min commute by car at 7am / 7pm, 1h15 for a 9am arrival)0
