Morning all! Thanks for popping in!

Ahhh - hallway colours...now there is a thorny issue! We were considering some form of cream/pale yellow type colour, but having now seen the completed plastering and how much bigger the space already looks than in it's previously half-artexed state, I'm not at all convinced that it wouldn't take something *slightly* darker - the question is, how much darker, and what sort of shade do we go for if that is the direction we choose. I quite favour something sort of "milky coffee" or "Biscuity" in the main area, with something toning but a couple of shades lighter in the porch area and recess. The other thing as well as wanting something not-too-dark because of increasing the light levels in the flat as a whole is that whatever we choose has to go with the soft grey that the bathroom is done in, and also the green in the kitchen, although I have a feeling that is probably shortly going to get re-painted into a slightly different colour anyway.

The plastering is now completed anyway as I say - and really does look wonderful! SUCH a change from what we've been used to for so long, it already looks better than it did before and that's without any redecoration yet! We had a bit of a brainstorm yesterday and agreed on doorknobs for the cupboards (brushed steel, flattish round ones) light switches (brushed steel again - slightly raised rather than the flat plate ones we have in the kitchen). It's getting there.

Banking checked and all fine - interest is in on the joint M@rcus account - a pleasing increase on previous months thanks to the interest rate changes. C0ventry have also notified us of increases to rates - our regular saver with them is now a little more respectable, and the Limited Access account is actually slightly above M@rcus now - which is typical after we switched some money across from there! Still need to get my head round the cc - I think it needs money transferred on beer festival stuff though - some of which will later be an expenses claim. (Note made that I need to start an expenses claim list and folder when I get home tonight). I still have a feeling there is a payment made that might not have reached its intended destination but again, I need to sit down and look at that properly.

The remaining lamb from Sunday's joint was chunked up last night - I had planned that it would do a further Sunday lunch plus another meal as well, but it was having none of being sliced. I forgave it when I realised that in fact chunked up it would do an additional three meals - so two lots have gone in the freezer and tonights is stashed in the fridge. I need a proper fridge raid tonight to work out what's being eaten with the couscous etc.

Ha a brief flurry of contact from Utilsh1ty warehouse (new nickname - up there with Virgin Mediocre in my view!) yesterday - a phone call asking whether I'd got their email on Monday, then an email sending their Saturday message to me again - I replied saying that was the one I'd replied to and assumed that they had sent a further message after that which I'd not had...to which I got a response going over the same ground that had been dealt with some time ago, and yet again from someone entirely different  in their team - so much for the named person to handle the complaint. Sigh. It really shouldn't be so difficult should it - all I want is for them to put OUR money onto OUR account - how challenging can that really be?! I replied to that last asking for clarity over which of my emails it replied to, and suggesting yet again that actually leaving a chain of emails in place would make it far easier to keep track of what is going on - both for them AND us. I've had nothing back on that. (And yep - I'm perfectly aware that the very LAST thing they want is for things to be easier to keep track of!)

UW really do seem like a nightmare to deal with. Note to self never even consider switching to them!

We had a nightmare with Virgin as well so have vowed never to consider switching to them either.

We tend to just go to the DIY store and pick a colour we like the look of. It has worked so far and amazingly nothing clashes with adjacent rooms  :)

On the colours, have a look at Dulux Natural Calico - it's a grey-based cream (I have it with Egyptian Cotton on the woodwork, which is darker and looks grey next to it) and it looks fine next to green (I have Cornish Clay in the next room). The Natural Calico seems to work well with light from all directions which is another advantage, whereas the green-based creams look best with east light, and the pink-based ones with west.

Good luck with utilities and with the paint colour choices.

Glad the plaster has already improved things.

Don't do what we did and think, a nice bright colour will work - we tried to match the outside of the house with the under shade of a golden yellow cream and the colour match came up as Banana Dream 3 - it was err, banana coloured and with the thatch it looked dreadful. So we ended up with another £90 of paint in Country Cream. I think you have to consider what is around it too. In our case, the thatch made it far too bright for the outside of the house.

    Banana Dream anyone?

Ha - we did our hallway Happy Yellow, which was great - until we then did the kitchen Retro Yellow 😁😂 A lovely clash, and one which is likely to stay for a good while as there are far more pressing priorities. Fortunately we are big fans of Wilkos paints, so any aesthetic 'damage' will only cost about £15 to repair 😂

The house we are moving to has a bright yellow wall in the livingroom.  Yellow is not my most favourite colour so that has to go.

Big fan of natural calico here, too :)

Just caught up - have to confess I read pages 1-50 and then 130- now 😁😁

Sorry to hear about your dad, EH.

Not sure if you ever shop at Sainz but they sell W1ld deo and often on offer - I think my last refill was £3 - I switched to them earlier this year :)

I love the Red Arrows - as a child we used to often watch them doing their thing using three hilltops in Glos and it was great - very sad when they moved away from our county :(
