Beanie - my Samsung makes a few creaks and groans, but isn't particularly noisy (and I rarely have any background noise from the radio, and don't have a TV).4

Morning all!Tea and toast has been consumed here this morning, with a cooked-overnight in the SC beef stew to follow for lunch. Tea this evening will be the traditional Sunday cheese, crackers, pickles etc.
Planning a bits & pieces day - some more tidying (this will be my “one thing” for the day - getting shot of some stuff that’s been irritating me for a while), some garden stuff. Hopefully a couple of walks, albeit probably quite short local ones. Aiming for a no-car day and a NSD I think.Discovered a relatively new bra losing a wire last night - so that will need a couple of stitches to stop it poking out again and will hopefully then be fine for a while longer. It’s a Boux Ave one and theirs don’t seem to be quite as good quality as they used to be, sadly.
Right - as Greying would have said, “time to shake a tail feather” I think!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I'm glad you're finding the 'one thing' idea useful. I've just painted over two damp marks in my bedroom which have been annoying me for over a year (no problem with the roof, just one of those things that happens randomly when the wind/rain come from an unusual angle). I got the stain block out of the garage a few days ago, and this morning decided to get it done. Found a dust sheet, moved the furniture, found a small jar, some rags and an old knife to open the paint tin with, got the step stool out, painted over one patch, painted over the other. 10 minutes' work and the stain block is now drying. I might get the paint on later5

That's reminded me I need to do the same in the kitchen. I have a grease patch above the oven hood. I need to get up there as I wonder if it came looseAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good work greenbee! I’ve ended up with two things for today - the bags of toot in the front room that had been there since being removed from himself’s old car in August are now sorted, most of the contents binned, and a few items ready to go back to the new vehicle tomorrow morning. Then this afternoon we’ve tackled the under-cabinet lighting strip that wasn’t working in the kitchen. MrEH had a look and decided that it had been pulled a bit tighter than it should have been when it was originally installed and now wasn’t making contact properly - probably because it had shrunk back a little in the 4 years it’s been up there. I’ve stripped it down, we’ve plugged it back in tightly and there was still enough sticky left on the strip to stick it back up again, but with a little extra slack. Two ridiculously small and “unimportant” things in the grand scheme of it, but the clear floor in the front room looks SO much better, and the extra light in the kitchen again makes working in there far more pleasant.SH - you’ve reminded me that our cooker hood filter needs changing - that can do for another day’s “one thing” then. 😁
I may need to start a list of nagging odd jobs so I have some to choose from!
Not a NSD in the end as we decided to walk through the woods to the smaller of the town’s two “proper” T’s stores this afternoon. We’ve been after replacements for a couple of pasta bowls for ages - one cracked to the point of leaking a while back, another is heading that way. Two basic plain grey ones, £2.50 each, will do nicely. Also grabbed a pack of tealight candles as we’re almost out of them, a pack of batteries for the smoke alarms (the last one got used a few weeks back) and a cheeky pack of Belgian buns to have later. £12.10 total spend but (aside from the buns, technically,) all needed.Just having a sit down with a cuppa and will then go and get the bed made up - it was stripped this morning. Could also ideally do with getting the hoover shoved round but if it doesn’t happen I’ll not worry too much.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Excellent work there tackling those little annoying things! I'm definitely starting a small things list once all my big things are out of the way 😁4

Unsure if you're ready for that step yet, but have you seen the bungalow in Lochmaddy up for auction? Looks like it needs quite some work, but with 12KW of solar and 16Ha~ it looks quite promising. (Price of Tesla powerwalls notwithstanding!)

Well done on the TWO small jobs.
I stainblocked the marks in my bedroom, opened the paint which looked decidedly dodgy, gave it a good stir and thankfully it sorted itself out. I can tell where the damp was, but I'm pretty sure no one else will be able to spot it.
As I was on a roll (and waiting for stuff to dry) I emptied the bookcase outside my bedroom ( I don't have banisters on the landing, the stairwell has bookcases instead - cheaper, more useful, less dusting) as the other side was painted last year but the person who did it for me didn't come back to finish the job. Primed it, taped it, and put two coats of dark cranberry on the MDF backing. I'll check at bedtime whether I need to do another coat and if not I'll aim to do the woodwork over the course of the rest of the week.
As I moved my bed, I also hoovered and dusted behind and underneath before putting it back.
And I emptied the contents of the hotbin into the main raised bed and filled up the hotbin from one of the compost heaps.
So lots of small jobs done here. And all cleared up and put away. I think getting one done ends up being the catalyst for others.6 -
