Where is the best place to post about a company policy PHI claim?

So,
I got this response today (after dropping her a text to check she is in the office and requesting her let me know when I can call to discuss):
Hi, I can advise that we have received a response from xxxxxx and a manager will be in touch with you this week to arrange a meeting to discuss this with you.
Am absolutely annoyed, because she knows the outcome and I don't and it just seems unfair. On the other occasions of decline, she told me the outcome and then sent a follow up letter. I have asked if she can at least tell me the outcome, and I can discuss properly as well, as I do appreciate this will need to be done.
So fed up!
Edited to say, I bet she'll not bother replying to that again!0 -
Chill! That sounds to me like she has been told she can't tell you! One way or another, you are getting to the "formal" stage, and management have probably reigned her in to ensure that everything is done correctly. If you need time to formulate your ideas at the meeting, you ask for it, even if that means a postponement.0

I have calmed down now, think I was just so annoyed that she knew and I didn't and, knowing my TL, it will likely be ages before she gets her backside into gear to sort a meeting.
I just want it over and done with now, whichever way it goes.
I appreciate I am not her only case to be dealing with, but I honestly think she has ignored me previously, only responding when I have contacted her by text (to check she is actually at work first), asking her if I am ok to call her. And funnily enough, every time this has happened, she has just happened to have news and has emailed me in response.
I do think it's been a poor handling of it, but my company is notorious for that too!!
I shall wait over here on the edge of my seat, pending further news!!:rotfl:
Thanks again.0 -
Well, blow me down with a feather! My TL called asking if I can go in for a 'catch up' tomorrow! So, that's a relief! And a complete surprise - if you knew my TL, you'd know why I say that!!:rotfl:
I am still intrigued, because it's not an 'official' meeting where I can (or need) take a rep with me. And as I believe they need to give me that option if they're getting rid of me, they can't be doing that! Well, not tomorrow anyway!:D
So, watch this space!
I shall update after the meeting.0 -
There you go. Something has been decided - one way or another. She was told to stay quiet.
I may be wrong - but the PHI company may be making you a one-off offer to go away. Now this bit I DO know about. They often, when they know they are backed into a corner and are facing lengthy claims, offer to buy you out. Think long and hard if such an offer is made. Only take it if it is in your own interests to, and don't be badgered into it.
I may be wrong, but it had occurred to me before that this may be the cause of the delay.
Whatever - if an offer is made you DO NOT accept it on the spot! Even if they tell you you must or it will be withdrawn. Just point out that if they thought the ombudsman was going to back them, no offer would have been made, and you want time to consider it.0 -

Thank you again. That is interesting! I don't know what they would offer though, because the monetary value isn't that great, as far as I am aware. I would only come out with roughly £76 per month, which although not a massive amount, would do AND it would mean I would keep my employment status and other benefits that go with that. I am not sure how it works though, is it generally only the £76 per month they have to pay my company (as they are the client), or would they be paying the additional costs associated with keeping me employed as well?
My friend reckons my TL is giving me the chance to say I will return to work, before officially letting me go! She works there too, so is just as cynical :rotfl:
I have been speculating with hubby about 'what it means'..think it's only natural..and I was thinking that as it is not an official, documented meeting with reps etc, then it must be quite 'straightforward'. As in they may even say they've accepted the claim! But, I really have no idea!!0 -
Neither do I. And I can't answer the details about PHI. I only know about the attempts to buy people off because it happened to three of my friends. And three is a bit too many to be a coincidence since they are the only three friends I have with PHI!
But think about it - it's only £76 a month (taxable income). So if they offered you £2k, that'd be a nice holiday?? But they may have to pay £76 a month for 20 years! Now the nice holiday might be what you actually want. But that is what they did to my friends. Offer just enough to be very tempting. It doesn't really matter what the amount is - there is always a tempting figure, and also always the possibility you will still be claiming in 20 years!0 -

Mine is only paid up to a maximum of 4 years. But I suppose if I had the small payment, as well as the extra benefits of employment..health care, pension, holiday accrual, discounts on top of that, then that is quite a difference in value.0 -
Well, I went. And to summarise, I was offered a payment by my company, not the PHI company, in order to leave.
Basically a 'termination payment', 12 weeks notice pay and my accrued holiday pay.
I think I will take it, however, there are 2 things I need to think about.
Apparently, they haven't had an answer from the PHI people and the woman who told me that yesterday has got her wires crossed. So, I still don't know the outcome of that.
Also, my notice and holiday have been calculated at a lesser amount than I expected. This is because I had a TEMPORARY reduction in my hours in the weeks leading up to being off sick, therefore my salary was reduced. What is annoying about this is the horrendous fight I had to get them to reduce my hours under reasonable adjustments in the first place - and the fact that every step of the way they told me, in no uncertain terms, it was temporary. So, the payment I was offered was what I was expecting, but only because they offered the termination payment on top of the reduced notice and holiday pay. I suspect there's not a lot I can do about that though. I'm sure there will be something that allows them to get away with doing that, so I won't dwell on it too much.
I was told I have 48 hours to let them know in principle whether I will accept it and that it's a 'one time offer'. I was also told I will not likely find out the outcome of the PHI company's decision. This in itself makes me suspicious, but knowing wouldn't make me better off. At least, I don't think it would!0 -

On my way to hospital appointment. Don't accept yet. I'll explain later0
