I'm already with Noddle (Call Credit) and ClearScore (Equifax), so was looking to see if Experian had a free service also, but not just a free trial.

On my searches I found this from the 14th Sept 2016....

http://www.experian.co.uk/blogs/consumer-advice/experian-credit-score-free-forever/

Clicking on the links in there takes you here....

https://www.experian.co.uk/?sc=701845&bcd=BLEX2

So before I jump the gun and sign up, is that right...is it really free for life from Experian now? Just like Noddle & ClearScore??

What they say is....
CreditMatcher is a completely free service which allows you to:
*Check your Experian Credit Score for free – forever
*Check your Experian Credit Score as often as you like – this is available monthly
•Search for Credit Cards and Loans matched to your credit information
•Compare credit card and loan deals you’re more likely to get be accepted for
•Compare mortgages from a range of providers

CreditExpert provides a number of features and benefits in addition to those provided by CreditMatcher:
• Access to the Experian Credit Report
• Score Factors to tell you specifically what’s impacting your Experian Credit Score
• Guidance on how to address any negative factors
• Credit alerts which alert you if certain parts of your Experian Credit Report change
• Web Monitoring and alerts if we find possible misuse of your personal details online
• Access to help from Experian’s award winning UK based call centre
• Dedicated support from one of our expert case workers if you become a victim of fraud

So the new CreditMatcher service is free which they get money from when you use their service to take out new loan, but just like ClearScore & Noddle you don't have to use these extra "facilities".

Be really handy if it was. Free credit reports from all 3 companies for free for life!! :j

You have to sign up to there "creditmatcher" service, which probably means been bombarded with sales calls, emails etc

If you can cope with that, then this is a service for you.

Also appears they only give you your score which is meaningless. Not your actual credit report....

If you want your Experian "score" for free, Barclaycard offer it as a free perk for having one of their cards - however it's only updated every 2 months. It's only the score and not the report.

MSE's Credit Club also offer Experian's score, however this is monthly. Same as Barclaycard it's only the score and no report. However apparently MSE are looking to offer a free Experian report in time.

However, the scores from Barclaycard and the scores from MSE Credit Club can vary massively (look at recent threads on this board).

This has changed since the original post regarding free access to credit reports. The MSE Credit club give you your full Experian credit report which is updated once a month.

Clearscore has your full Equifax report updated monthly as do Noddle for the third credit reporting agency, Callcredit.

Also, now, Giffgaff provides a full credit report from Callcredit that is updated every day for free. This has limited search information though as the banks use Callcredit far less than they use the two larger agencies.
