But the point is moot. The consensus on here thinks it is bad practice to run mains cable behind or routed into the back of skirting. It would probably be ok but it isn't the ideal solution for the OP.0 -
Not just bad practice, but not in compliance with wiring regs and therefore unlikely to comply with Part P of building regs either (assuming OP is in England or Wales).0

Bridging the cavity is where cables are installed within the cavity - not passing through it.

Regards external lighting there are ways but retro fitting is much harder than initial designing to do so ? It just requires thought and planning. Granted most do neither, or are even aware that some bodies say you shouldn't ?0
