My new laptop has Office 365 pre installed. I prefer Office 2016 and have the disc.
Do I just uninstall 365 and install 2016.
I want to be sure of what to do before uninstalling
Thanks

Is your copy of Office 2016 installed anywhere else?
Shouldn't be an issue uninstalling 365 and installing 2016 as long as you meet the user licence requirements.
Is it a full version of Office 365 and do you have backup media or a product key.0 -
I don't have any back up for 365. It was on the laptop when I bought it.0

You will probly find the office 365 of the machine is a trail.
Just uninstall it using programs and features in the control panel and install office 2016
(assuming you have the product key)
If the office 2016 has been installed before on another machine, it may fail to activate once installed
If this is the case, choose telephone activation rather than online, follow the instructions and tell it that it has only been installed on 1 machine.
Then it will activate

Office 365 currently *is* Office 2016 (365 is just the current version of Office as SAAS), so it's going to be around licensing keys, and where to install

2016 is a standalone though isnt it and i much prefer to use it that the horrible cloudy 365
I can understand the OP's preference0 -
You should be able to use your 2016 key which should convert the product0

The only cloudy bit of Office 365 you have to actually use is the periodic connection to the net so it can check to see if you are still subscribed. Other than that it is no different to standalone 2016.2016 is a standalone though isnt it and i much prefer to use it that the horrible cloudy 365

And of course no data slurping what-so-ever goes on in the background.
Is it just me that wants MY programs on MY machine, and doesnt want anything as a service unless i absolutely have to ...

Thanks everyone.
365 was a trial version and 2016 has been installed with no problem.0 -

Of course people have different views on whether a subscription is worth it over a standalone licence but Office 365 is quite happy to work offline until it needs to verify its status again. There isn't much going on in the background.0
