...There is no need for rtandon to reach for the smelling salts, as we had pizza :D I did decide to do asparagus pizza though, rather than black olive...

Didn't get to the smelling salts in time...
..the thought of NOT having black olives knocked me right out...;)

...now that I'm fully recovered though, asparagus on a pizza sounds well creative dear GP! - not one I've thought of;)

Our meals went to plan this week:j:j:j small victories and all that!

Bottom Drawer Brunch on Saturday, Eggie BF & Pizza Dinner on Sunday, Meatless Monday, Box Fish Tuesday, Storecupboard Wednesday, Chinese Thursday (OH has a wok;)), Leftover Friday :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    ...today, we rinse & repeat!:D

(ETA - GP if I remember correctly, these are lovely in flavour - saw them a couple of times yellow stickered in Mr T & Mr W - BG might get a giggle!)

    Good Morning :hello:

rtandon -we like asparagus pizza - I grill it first, and then put the spears on top of the cheese. The cheese melts around, and it makes for a nice tasting - seasonal - pizza. Sounds like you've your meals better set out than me! BRAVO!

Ha ha - love those 'purple prickles' - very pretty :D

I bought a punnet of peaches from mrA the other day. They were a little pricey - 69p for 4, as I did know that mrAl were having 4 nectarines in their S6 from Thursday for......... 49p??? Anyway, they are 'ripen at home' and it tickled me (easily pleased) that one of the peaches still had its leaves intact. Anyhoo, BG and I shared the first one for brekkie this morning. Last year, BG really loved peaches and nectarines - they really were the first fruits that they took too. So I was delighted that they 'remembered' they liked them, and ate the slices all up - declaring 'I like' as they did so :smileyhea A special moment for this soppy mumma :o

Tea this evening will be a curry plate. I have some mung beans to use up out of the freezer, there is some dhal too and I'll boil up some basmati.

There are a few bits to get for the household today. It'll munch up pretty much the last of the grocery money :o With a week of the month left to go :o Mind, I have been absorbing some of BG's costs into the grocery money, instead of using the CHB, so we'll have to revert back to using the CHB. Trying to collect savings for BG is all very well, but we need to be realistic about costs too.

Right, I must learn from the flumps and 'get my skates on'! ;):rotfl:

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

    Good Evening :hello:

    Well, *whisper* it very quietly..........

BG ATE A BOWLFUL OF LENTIL DHAL - YAYYYYYY!!!!!!! :j:j:j

Whoop! They haven't had any for a while, and had started to fuss a bit when presented with it. They did again tonight, and asked for pasta. But just when it looked like they were going to reject it - the wrinkled nose as they took the first microscopic spoonful was delightfully comical; the look of distain at mumma as they put it in their mouth....... then their face completely changed, they remembered that they quite liked it really, and ate up the remainder with relish! They even tried to lick the last little bit off the side of the dish! :rotfl:

I'm sure I've got even more grey hairs since BG moved to solids........ :rotfl::rotfl:

DH and I had Mugg (Mung Bean curry), a bit of leftover aubergine curry, dhal and basmati rice. Filled a gap and used what I had in the house.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

a full pantry/fridge/freezer/fruit bowl - we have plenty. we have enough.

    a little time to myself

    more toot exiting the house

Ta for popping by and reading. Appreciated.

Good evening. I shall subscribe as I like recipes immensely and can definitely do with sharpening up on my gratitude. Ah meals and small people are very stressful, little Smurphington is very contrary- one day she eats bananas the next she won't touch them - bizarre creatures

    Good Morning :hello:

Today, mostly, we shall be trying to keep out of the fierce heat of the sun.

Tea last night was prepped lentil bolognese and i boiled up some pasta. Winner all round, as it was quick, easy and the clean plates confirmed it is still a family fave :D

Tonight I have put 'salad' bowl, optimistically on the planner :D I do have some ideas to go along with it :D

Gosh, it's TV guide time again - DH only bought the last one on Sunday :rotfl:

rtandon - was the 'spicy' hot spicy, or flavoursome spicy? I'm not a huge fan of chilli heat, but I adore the cuisines of the middle-east (for example), for the 'roundedness' of taste that spices can bring. Cut -price kits are the only way to buy them - they are so expensive, aren't they? But good to try/experiment with new flavours/things.

Right, best get a wiggle on.

    Good Evening :hello:

I'm not a lover of the heat, so admit to struggling a bit today :(

However, we did get out and about to top up out vitamin D :D

I was going to announce (puffs chest) that I had bought some Scottish Strawberries for us tea :j As mrA had scottish strawberries (the Saltire was on the packets) in the £1.09 punnet range :j

However.......... dim Greying selected a punnet that was beautifully ripe, with lucious red fruits and smelt heavenly.... only to discover on getting home that they were the generically labelled 'British' strawberries, rather than the punnets with a saltire on them :( Fiddlesticks!

I also got some YS'd peaches for 30p rather than 69p :j Most of the punnets had at least one mouldy fruit in, but the punnet I selected had one fruit that has a scar in the flesh (obvs done at at early stage in growth and it has 'grown' into the peach). This can be cut out. Did feel that for once I had got a bit of a YS bargain :j

Since when have carrots got so expensive? HB aren't even stocking them at the moment :( I ended up getting 2 loose ones from m&$ for 17p (60p a kilo!) - but even mrA wanted 50p a kilo for 'old' store carrots.......

Tea this evening was a salad plate. I made some buckwheat, but it tasted absolutely rank. It was the last in the jar, and i'm afraid I binned it :( Chickens would have loved it, but we have none, so I'm afraid it got chucked. Don't know whether to bother learning to cook it properly, or just throw in the towel.

On the salad plate was beetroot coleslaw from the River Cottage baby & toddler book, by Nikki Duffy. I'm afraid there is no link, as I can't find one on the net, and the version HFW made on his recent prog is not the same. I didn't actually bother with the yoghurt, so mine wasn't a true coleslaw. But i did add in caraway - friend of red cabbage and beetroot. Then I made a Pear Walnut Salad, as it was one of the few recipe suggestions that I had all the ingredients for and which didn't suggest shoving blue cheese all over it! And I also made the 3 bean salad,(actual recipe is on page 6 of 8 of the pdf file) but I used some of the Broad bean, edamame and pea (frozen) bean mix from m&$ (£1.10 for 500g) for my salad. I did buy some pomegranate seeds from mrA (£1 for 80g), for extra ponce - but also it made it look a beautiful salad. Due to the lack of buckwheat, I heaved a piece of pizza each out of the freezer. The adults had black olive, the baby cheese & tommy.

Just right for the weather conditions, and a colourful plate :T The salads were all new recipes, and all keepers for me. I did use what I had - or made them in my own style - the beetroot coleslaw recipe stated white cabbage, but I wanted to up the polyphenol quotient and so used red. I got red and white cabbage from mrA for 33p and 37p each, respectively. I see plenty of slaw in our future :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    colourful ingredients

    plenty

40 winks in the heat........ :o

    Good Afternoon :hello:

I'm hiding from the sun. Sad, but true :(

We have already had a lovely day :D

BG has enjoyed sun-warmed strawberries, straight off the plant (well, grandma insisted on washing them first, but......). Mumma didn't get a look in (natch), but even the aroma........ there is nothing finer than fresh picked :D We have been given some HG broad beans, peas and gooseberries too. I did try BG with a freshly podded pea. They did pick it out of the pod, put it in their mouth and bite into it, but then declared 'no likey' :( Before spitting it out. I can't really moan as I've (funny creature that I am) never really been a fan of 'raw' peas either :( But BG did delight in picking the rest of the peas out of the pod, and handing them to mumma to eat - with a 'fankyoo' with each one handed over :rotfl:

Tea this evening is going to be another salad bowl. Using up what I have.

The credit card bill is in, tis a bit 'ouchy' but then if I will go around purchasing luxurious parfums and staying away from the homestead on an overnight jolly, weeeelllllllll..... I've only myself to blame. The money is all accounted for, but will have to be corralled together out of several pots before the bill can be paid.

Grandma gave BG £5 for their money box, so we will enjoy taking that into the bank asap. BG is big enough to hand over their book themselves now, to the lady or gentleman behind the counter, and they like doing it, so it adds a bit of fun to our day :D

Right, BG is napping - they were a bit reluctant to go down today. Hope this is not the beginning of the end of the afternoon nap.........

Ta for popping in for a read. Appreciated.

Another one hiding from the heat here too! It is a bit cooler here today though so I am not going to complain! :o

DD took freshly picked strawberries and cherries in her lunchbox this morning. She loves being the one to pick the fruit. I'm sure BG does too. It's good for them to know where food comes from and like you say, it's much tastier.
