Ah ... But did you put the stamp on it and post it?
  • Good Morning :hello:

What's Monday got in store for us I wonder

I've definitely got more admin to sort out, and I need to tidy up a 'dumping ground' that suffered as a result of the weekend's progess......

If the weather is OK (looks damp, but dry at present, through the stygian gloom...) I shall endeavour to take some UHT milk over to the community hub and call into mrA and pick up a couple of things that they have cheaper than elsewhere if they have them in stock.

Tea last night was sweet potato and carrot jalfrezi, lentil dhal and basmati rice. I put carrot in the jalfrezi to eke it out abit as I only had one and a half sweet potatoes left. It worked well. There was 2 portions and a small lunch portion left over. We sat watching part 2 of 'Cuckoo's nest' - so don't tell me what happens, as we've taped the final bit of it :D Can't work out whether I like it or not. I suspect I would perhaps prefer the book (although not really the genre I would choose to read), there seems to much background 'unsaid' in the TV adaptation, for alot of the characters - not just Strike himself.

Tea this evening will be a pasta dish - i must dig out the recipe online for a link. It will use mostly store ingredients, but I think I am getting low on pasta, so will pick up some extra from mrA.

    Over the weekend, I have been extremely grateful for many things, including;

savings which have enabled planned for purchases,

a DH who is a hard-worker and does all he can for his little family

    progress, at last. Progress :D

beanie - i'm in awe of your talents, it would have taken me 5 minutes to have; found me glasses, found a pen that worked that didn't have green ink in it, found me purse for the stamp and found a space on the table to be able to write a card! :D

    Have a great day.

  • Well, Monday is going spiffingly :D

I got some admin sorted this morning - which is always a bonus :D

We popped our milk donation - funded by l/o change from the grocery budget - across to the community hub. I'm afraid the hub let themselves down a bit again. There was no easy way to access the building - I guess school hols and lunchtimes don't necessarily mesh....... and when I did manage to attract someone's attention, I was met by a not very helpful individual, who probably would have rather that I hadn't chosen today to make my donation...... I wonder what being a 'community worker' (paid or voluntary) actually means?...................... Anyhoo, they managed to get over themselves and accepted my donation, let's hope it gets to it's intended destination.

I popped into mrA's. Our branch appears to no longer stock green lentils - thanks mrA. There was no SEL, even if they were currently out of stock. Perhaps they are phasing out 'raw' ingredients, to make room for even more processed stuff like food. They didn't have the type of peanut butter that is apparently currently on offer according to mesupermecardo - this I'm less suprised at, as not every store (of any supermercado) stocks everything that is listed on that site. I did however grab a couple of packs of ditali pasta that they had in stock. It is BG's favourite type of pasta and mrA's didn't have it in stock last time I was there, and mrS seems to be oos of it too, so when I see some, I grab it.

Lunch has been munched and BG has - not suprisingly - retired for a snoozettte. They have been on a big adventure, and whilst I was on the phone to a lovely chum, they amused themselves playing 'shopping' with the pasta packets and the shopping bag :D Such simple pleasures, they do make me smile :D

Right, I will squeeze in a bit more admin, then I best start making tea.

Ta for popping in. Great to *see* ya :D

Lots of admin done here too - I've even done my tax return... :D
  • Ah sounds busy on here! Progress is always grand in every direction possible. Ooohing and ahhing at the cuteness of BG - DD was indeed doing similar things with pasta about ooooh five minutes ago.

Sounds frustrating trying to donate food and not being able to do it easily I wonder how many folks give up entirely.

Wet day here so hiding also doing admin - and someone else is fondling (pinching out) our tomatoes - just wish we were nearer.

We're having a 'pick your own plums' free event tomorrow - sounds like it will be well subscribed and a few 'can't make it tomorrow' types landed here today buckets in hand. Hopefully it will be a jolly event and lovely to share the bumper harvest. We're thinking of doing similar for the apples in a month.

If only we could press pause on things - or have a time turner a la hermione. (SP)

Enjoy your tea ours is leftovers or dumplings I can't mind which, or both.

    XOXOX

  • Good Morning :hello:

Well, it seems everyone had their pencils, slide rules and paper clips at the ready yesterday. Do you think it a September thing? :D

Tea last night was Italian sausage and pasta, which used up stuff I had - including half a pack of coldron sausages that I got from h3r0n a while a go for 89p a pack :j I had frozen some wine when we had a bottle and purposely didn't want to drink more than a glass - think it was a school night or something, so I used that in the dish too. Worked perfectly fine, although I shall have to reassess what I put wine in, in the freezer in future. I forgot it doesn't completely freeze, and at one point put the pots on their side. Cue everything covered in a red wine slushie........ I hadn't got any mushrooms so put some dried mushrooms in, and I used up the last of some cherry tommies that I had bought from mrL some time ago.

Tea this evening will be soup. Possibly tomato, as we have been listening to a particular episode of the flumps, where baked potatoes and tomato soup is mentioned about 47 times!!! :D

I only wasted 45 minutes of my life watching engerland play football last night. I think that Slovakia played very well in the first half, and gave us a metaphorical bloody nose, which we deserved.

I have completed my admin to 'first draft' so will spend time checking and tweeking and then it will be sent off.

I will certainly be trying to get a breath of fresh air today, if the weather plays ball. I don't want to get soaked. It is enough of a hassle trying to dry washing as it is at the moment, without having to dry me out too :D If the weather perks up, we may well go far enough to pick up the TV guide. We're OK foodwise I think.

Right, best get started. Ta for popping in. Appreciated.
