It's that time of year again chaps.......

Unless your desperate to use the car, just fit a new battery. Your probably going to need one anyway and if you bump it now, it'll only fail you as the cold weather sets in.
I left the interior light on last night so I was only wondering if the car didn't start would I be able to push start the car as I've never had a car where you had to hold the clutch pedal down.

I wouldn't usually believe a story like that. But as it's you PN I certainly do. :rotfl:

Well, it was a flat road and I was a LOT younger :)
It would've been about 30-35 years ago :)
    Celica it was.

The Landy I push-started does have one. It might have been easier.
  • Just to point out that push starting is not recommended for automatics.

Unfortunately, the first time I forgot to switch the ignition on. So I had to push the damn thing back UP that mild gradient for a second attempt...

    Snap!

I had an old Cherokee with a dead flat battery, so I intended to flip the ignition on just as it got upto speed to drop the clutch, except I forgot to flip it on :o

That was when I learned that if a car won't start on the starter, you never push it downhill away from your drive, you jumpstart it or fix the starter motor ;)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

not so easy with an engine that sits across the car, the wheels get in the way.:T
You could get something like a Jumping Jack to carry around, they turn over most small cars. Used one on DD's car that's sat around for 2 years and started first time. Didn't do it again though as the battery was knackered
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

They were fine on low-ish compression 8hp engines, but I doubt any use on anything made in the last 50 years.

Jump packs aren't terribly useful if it's the starter itself that's died, though, and you'd quite like to drive home...
