Is it possible to overcome rejection?

I think rejection affects you all of your life, and is particularly hard when you feel rejected by a parent as their love is unconditional right? It is even more difficult when the parent has other children and not you.
Rejection affects your self esteem and your current relationships with others. It is not uncommon never to feel good enough or to be constantly seeking something that is not there. Time and time again we see adults seeking the love and attention that they needed as a child.
I don't think that all women who give up their children do so with angst, some parents will never take responsibility for their children or for how their own behaviour affects their child.
However I don't think that your feelings override hers, you are both adults now and will never have that parent child relationship where she may put your feelings before her own. Hopefully your adoptive parents have afforded you the love and security that you need to help you move on with or without your birth mother.
