  • Oh hun, I can see why you're so annoyed.

It may not be as bad as you think? Although I understand the worse case scenario, due to your past.

    How old is DD? xx

School year 4. Of course we will adjust but I know how it feels not to have your father around. I saw my dad once a year, if that. Of course, nowadays there's Skype but that's hardly 'being there' for her, is it?

I'm hoping he won't get the job, I know that's selfish of me.... he's choosing a job over his (only) child, no matter how you sugar coat it, that's what it is.

Updating the diary to say that it's been one full week since I haven't used my Barclaycard (BOS and Tesco are transfer cards so they've always been in a drawer at home. MBNA is now closed). I will be counting days as I think it's a great reminder for me to stop using them (and cancel when £0). I'm not counting payments I make to the 3 cards I have.

So yay - 7 days of credit card freedom!

And I've joined the NSD challenge, with a target of 15 NSDs for November. Let's see how that pans out... Tomorrow it will be a spend day as it's online grocery shopping day, but hope to bag at least 3 NSds this week, if not 4.
  • Massive well done for totalling everything up and huge hugs for saying it out loud on here. You're not alone and you will do it! I've subscribed to your diary x

Thanks, I managed an NSD today, the 1st November one. Tomorrow it won't be NSD, long overdue lunch with work people, but hoping for Friday and Sunday. Saturday it's school fireworks, it's impossible to not spend :)

    Good evening.

I managed an NSD today. This weekend will be mostly frugal, apart from school fireworks night tomorrow evening. £535 left in my account until paydate, but £250 of that is childcare and school lunches, £30 is mobile phone bill.

So really the budget is £250 for the next 3 weeks for groceries and all other non-bills spending. A bit on the tight side, knowing myself. Grocery spend tends to be £50-60 weekly, but I've been known to exceed that. Not good. I won't touch any of the credit cards so most likely the 3rd week will be super-frugal. I hope I won't get into overdraft as it's 75p per day to use it.

Dating? What dating? It's Friday night and I'm checking my bank accounts.

    Mood: super-tired.

I think you're overplaying the 'dad moving away' thing. While it will probably still upset your daughter, it would be for six months, not life. She could find it massively exciting to visit him.

I grew up without my father. It's for life... I'm still resentful that he wasn't there for me and there were many sad and bitter moments for me during my childhood and teenage years. Kids are resilient though so you have a point... she'll get used to not having him around several months after he's gone.
