Bank of Scotland Vantage

First apologies if this topic has been discussed but a search does does not bring it up.

I was checking my accounts this morning only to find no interest was added this month.
I contacted them by phone to be told that i was in breach of TAC because the mandatory two direct debits had to be to different recipients, like a lot of people here both my DD went to my Tesco accounts.
They argued that letters had been sent out detailing this change but I have received no such correspondence from them

In short they agreed to credit the interest to my accounts and also my husbands,we have three each.
Has anyone else had this problem or is it just a glitch on my accounts?
Needless to say I will now be looking to set up another DD.

I assume you have 2 different Tesco accounts, the internet and the instant? In that case it sounds like a glitch because I got interest on my 3 BoS's this month as normal. If both DDs come out of the same Tesco account obviously there will be a problem.

If they change their conditions to require 2 different organisations for DDs we will be hassled to start arranging alternatives, eg paypal or gocardless.

As long as 2 different direct debit mandates show on internet banking and each is pulled from during the month then interest should be credited.

What a great forum this is.

Are the references both of the form: 000XXXXXXXXX/XXXXX?

If you set up 2 direct debits from the same Tesco account the digits before the forward slash would be the same but the digits after it would be different.

if you set up a direct debit from different Tesco accounts the digits before the slash would also be different.

  • To conclude this thread after a very unproductive call lasting over thirty minutes in which i was told hard luck.
I asked for a copy of all correspondence about this change only to be told I would have to make a complaint the representative promptly hung up on me..
After a ten minute break i called again happily to be dealt with a much more understanding person who within five minutes credited my accounts with the missing interest and also cleared any ambiguity.

DD have to be to two different accounts.
