Moving Home - Cannot get same service, BT won't budge on 12 months

Hi,
Yesterday I exchanged. Complete next week.
Sorting out everything and BT are being a pain. I am currently on BT Infinity 2 getting 80mbps and BT Sport for £28 a month.
Where I am moving to they can only provide BT Infinity 1 at around 17-24mbps.
They are saying my only option is to take out a new 12 month contract at £19 a month.
So I have 3/4 less speed, but only pay 1/3 less. The only other option is to cancel my contract entirely which ends in May.
I knew I was buying in May and asked what would happen if I couldn't get the same product, and it was stated that I could then leave. However, it has come about that I cannot leave because BT Infinity 1 and BT Infinity 2 are the same products!
Is there anything I can do? I just don't see why I would pay that much for something so much more inferior.

So you took out a contract knowing you were moving.
You now want to end that contract early but don't wish to pay any charges
If BT rang you mid way through a contract and said "by the way we're cancelling your service next week, there's nothing you can do about it and we're not compensating you" would you be happy for that to happen? I suspect not.
You're options are limited.
You pay the same for Infinity 1 if you can get 17 meg or 55meg. It's not charged by speed attainable.0 -
Hi,
I asked if this was the case when I was renewing, hence why I then said (I missed the without charge bit which was mentioned)I knew I was buying in May and asked what would happen if I couldn't get the same product, and it was stated that I could then leave without charge.
I currently have BT Infinity 2, I cannot get BT Infinity 2, I can only get BT Infinity 1. These are in my view, different products. They have different names, so not sure how they can be classed as the same product.
I do not mind continuing my current contract until the end, however they are not giving me that choice. The only choice they have given me is to take out a new 12 month contract.0 -
If you are still in a minimum contract period, then you have a contract for that service at that address for a minimum period of time. If you want to move and break the contract you entered into, you either pay the early termination charges, or the supplier may offer you a new contract at the new address instead of ETC's. If you are out of the minimum term, then you can just give notice.0

BT Infinity 2 can be provided, just not with the speeds you desire. Infinity 2 comes with other benefits such as a larger cloud storage amount.
Ultimately, as said above, you signed up to a contract and are now wanting to change the terms of that contract mid term. The contract is there to protect both you and BT.
It's not a one way street.0
