Benefit fraud

At the end of the day, you were claiming when you should not have been, resulting in an overpayment to yourself, there's no getting away from that.
I would say the best course of action is to be honest during your interview, that way you wont trip yourself up and it won't come across as it looking like fraud. Offer to pay the money back at a reasonable rate that you can afford.
I doubt very much that a custodial sentence will be issued either, more so if you are upfront & honest.debt free, savings in the bank0 -
Haven't had a medial letter for over 2yrs and never got a p60 or a December bonus I don't even know you could get a bonus.
They're not going to believe you, they hear the "I didn't receive the letter" line every single day.
Which benefits have you been in receipt of? Have you claimed working tax credits?0 -
All I recieved was ESA and I honestly haven't had a letter from the benefit for years I have no reason to lie about that. As my bank is never check the statements and my balance when I draw money out a cash point.
I'm sorry if my story is all over the place I'm not very good at explaining things very well0 -
im not defending anyone, but have to say that i have had no letters at all from either ESA or DLA in almost 4 years.
i have no idea why they don't send them and need to phone to ask for proof of entitlement for the dentist
so thanks for reminding me! 0 -

Do you get Housing Benefit ?0 -
I agree, post is rare from DWP regarding claims.
Also I am often amazed by how little a handle some people have on their personal finances.
I recall another thread where someone had not noticed their CTC had not been paid for nigh on a year.
Still it is no excuse. Register for online banking, get the app and you can check your account in your birthday suit if you so wish.

It is not that you're explaining poorly, it's that you have, using your own figures, spent £10,000 of money which you should not have received, whilst a) not knowing that you were getting this extra money and b) 'hardly spending a penny'
Hardly spending a penny doesn't make sense. You have spent your salary PLUS what I assume is the majority of £10,000. That's more than a few pennies.
Your story does not make sense. Lack of explaining well won't explain that away.0 -
No housing benefit0

Does anyone know how they question you I've heard that throw questions at you to catch you out and trick you0
-
You did it.
They don't need to catch you out.
You need to go in and admit it and hope for the best.0
