    Check the tyres, if they're cheap then the owner doesn't give a damn about the car and it's probably a ticking time bomb.

    Sadly a lot of people dont see the merit of putting decent tyres on a car, but i take your point - it could be an indicator of corners being cut

    From another angle, if I was selling a car worth £2k and knew I had to put new tyres on, not sure how motivated I would be to put good (and therefore expensive) tyres on. If it was a car I was intending to keep I would buy the best tyres I could, though, skimping on something that impacts safety as much as tyres do is not a good idea.

    But on the OP's question, the tips given are solid. The more proof the owner can show of service history the better. And invoices and work lists are way better than stamps in the logbook.
