Problem topping up Revolut from overseas debit card?

Not really - if you had an Omani address connected to to your account there and your Revolut is registered to a UK address it's not going to work, probably not even for a bank transfer. But if the Omani (USD?) account is registered to the same UK address as for Revolut there should be no problem. The two addresses have to match exactly, at least for card top-up.I think it is clear the failure of card registration is because I have no address in Oman.
If it's not a USD account your bank will also impose their own exchange rate with a spread, as well as the fee.Evolution, not revolution0 -
Thanks, but not entirely correct there. Only yesterday, I made a bank transfer from my Omani bank (held in OMR) to my Lloyds Bank current account held in GBP. It worked just fine, the cash was at Lloyds in about three hours. My Omani bank charges a flat fee of 5 OMR (GBP 10) to make an international transfer. My Omani bank remits GBP and the exchange rate when checked against XE.com is in line to the third decimal place, so very little spread there. Lloyds accepts the GBP transfer in and makes no charge. Not really - if you had an Omani address connected to to your account there and your Revolut is registered to a UK address it's not going to work, probably not even for a bank transfer. I have the Barclays Bank details for my Revolut account, so I fail to see why I cannot do a USD transfer directly from my Omani bank to the Barclays Revolut account in the exact same way?
Any thoughts please?0 -
Ok, in that case you have a great account! Very unusual for a bank to put no spread on forex, perhaps because of Islamic principles..?My Omani bank remits GBP and the exchange rate when checked against XE.com is in line to the third decimal place, so very little spread there. So if you can do the same thing in USD to the Revolut USD account at Barclays you've got a good thing going. Assuming the Omani account and Revolut are registered to your same address. If not, let us know if it works. Let us know anyway in fact, if you don't mind.Evolution, not revolution0 -

Thanks, I'm going to have to try it and see. I'm not sure it will be this week now as I sent most of my money to the UK yesterday.
I agree, the Omani Bank provides very good value particularly for larger transfers as it is at a fixed fee. The Omani account is definitely not registered to my UK address, that would not be possible.0
