Thanks peeps! Been splitting my time today between getting washing and ironing done and sitting back down on the sofa as I keep getting hot and sweaty. Still got a stomach ache too. Already rung in sick for tomorrow. On a positive note I have been researching and learning today for new business and blog ideas and will do tomorrow too.

Also had bad news through the post via a letter from HMRC. The tax rebate the husband got earlier in the year was wrong so we have to repay it....with interest.....

£3222 at the moment with an apr of 2.29%.

I had a few moments of panic and considered staying in my job until Easter to pay it off but then came to my senses and realised that would make me even more miserable than cutting back even further to pay it off as soon as we can.

Rubbish news but it could have been worse I suppose. Not going to think about it properly until after the move now and then the husband and I will tackle it with gusto just like we have before!!

Psyching myself up for the school run....

Oh my goodness Crunchy - it makes me so mad to see the Government messing up with these things and it's the people who need to pay the price of their mistakes! I think it's a barefaced cheek to be asking you to pay interest!! Sounds like you have the right attitude for it - no stress :)

Hope you're feeling better now. Best to take a few days off. It's never a 'take it easy' job!

I'd be stressed about the HMRC thing, but sounds like you're taking it in your stride. Enjoy the researching. Is it making you excited? X

It was actually the husbands fault. It was his first time having to do this since he went over the threshold. He wasn't sure what figures to put for tax so guessed/put less rather than taking advice and ringing up his previous employer to check (which is so typical of him). He has apologised and was cross that I even considered staying in work until Easter to pay it off. I've told him he will have to check his tax return properly from now on and RING UP to ask advice.

He has rung up and explained that after we move we will start a payment plan with them - that will be fun!!!

I'm feeling very philosophical about it since my panic yesterday. Its not at all a set back which is preventing us from moving on with our lives. We are still pressing on with the move to our forever home and change of lifestyle and it feel really good!

Husband is back at work today but I'm still at home. I can't kick this stomach ache and headache and have dizzy spells. I'm planning to have a productive day - from my sofa and do some move planning as well as a plan to see me through my job with a smile on my face for these last few weeks until Christmas.

Ah, i see. It's terrible that I jumped to conclusions that it was their fault...oops! In fairness, I've heard of this happen so many times and it HAS been their fault, so it's a fair assumption to make. I suppose it's a lesson learned for your husband, though.

I'm glad you're seeing it so reasonably and in perspective - it's so easy to tie yourself in knots about things like this :)

Rest up and get well soon.

Gosh don’t worry! An easy thing to say as yes they do bog things up a lot!! So yes a fiat assumption to make.

I’m trying not to think of our debt being close to £10k again. It’s like the hard work of the beginning of the year went to nothing. But it hasn’t as we got rid of the massive loan which enabled us to get a mortgage for our forever home - got to keep in perspective. We’ve come a long way in 3 Years. Our debt free date will come when it is ready.

I’m looking forward to the future and feel really excited about all the decisions we are making for us going forward. I feel happier already and believe in us totally.

Got the puppy registered with our vet today and booked him in for his first jab -£30. Not as horrific as I thought!! Also got him insured with ‘lifetime’ insurance - £8 a month. Again not as horrific as I thought.

Need to enter these on my spreadsheet later.

Back to work tomorrow - sigh!!

    Afternoon,

Work was horrible yesterday - been told by the head that I should expect a letter from hr inviting me to a meeting regarding my high sickness. She has however lumped together my unpaid time off when kids sick with my own which makes it about 12 days which I know is ‘illegal.’ I told her I was questioning whether I wanted to continue working going forwards and to be honest don’t worry about the meeting as my decision would come first. All she said was ‘ok.’ I heard from another colleague that my line manager was talking negatively behind my back about me and rolling her eyes regarding my husband not taking days off to look after the children when they are ill. Very unprofessional I know.

We now have a rough date for moving which is in half term meaning I can resign on the 31st October to leave at Christmas as planned!! Woohoo!!

Part of me wants to fight the head for the things that have happened and the other part wants to channel my energy into my new life. It is clear from the management teams behaviour and attitude that they have a view of me which is wrong. The old me would go out of my way to prove them right but something about this screams to me to just take the high road. What does it matter? I’m off to much bigger and brighter things. I’m going to challenge when I’m required to buy otherwise keep my mouth shut and focus on the positives! Prove them wrong with my impeccable behaviour.

    Crunchy x.
