Hi
We have what I think is an electricity pole in the garden of a house we are looking to buy - does anyone know if this is a problem in terms of resale at a later date?
Thanks!

Pic?
Could it be a BT pole?0 -
All depends on the buyers thoughts. Is it an issue for you?
Check what the wayleave agreenent is if one exists.0 -
I don't think its a BT pole (but could be wrong) - cables look to thick and the connections to the pole different to local (clearly marked BT poles). Photo here goo.gl/6fkWrp0

If it's electricity, and supplies any other properties but yours, then it'll give you a (very!) small annual income from the wayleave.
If it's just for you, or it's BT, then there won't be any payment.
As for "will it cause a resale problem?" <shrug> It depends entirely on the property. If there's a row of identical houses, and yours is the only one with a pole slap bang in the lawn, then probably.0 -
Definitely power. And not just supplying to a few properties, either. It's low voltage, but you've got all three phases there.0 -
Its largely obscured by trees/plants, although cables are a little unsightly so may put off if/when we come to sell in future. Current owners don't know anything about it so not sure about wayleave.0

Is it actually on your land? Looks well buried in a hedge.0

Thanks. Yes its a about 3 metres onto the property, but in border which is currently largely shrubs/trees, so the pole itself is not all that visible. Cables then run diagonally across the lawn into neighbouring properties.0

If it isn't putting you off, it probably won't put others off either.
It's an essential for modern living after all, and just luck of the draw who gets to have one in their garden.
Mind you, it's about time someone cleared that vegetation off it!0
