Yeah but they didn't and had already been pointed out it should have been obvious to the op that the soup contained pork by the colour.
Basically you're playing a devil's advocate who just hasn't thought the counter argument through!
From a religious perspective, I seem to remember that if you eat haram food by accident then you're not going to get struck down.

Proper christians shouldn't eat pork, duck or shellfish, they also shouldn't consume alcohol. So I wouldn't consider the UK a christian country at all, it does very few christian things.
Strange then that Jesus himself turned water into wine and had wine at the Last Supper.
