Hello,

I've bought some books (4 books) from a website: horyzont.co.uk. I've paid for all tougether around 20 pounds. My problem is that I've never gotten my books. Items for which I've have paid. I've sent 20-30 emails to owner of the this service, but I've never recieived any reply from her. Also, I've beein trying to rich her by phone, but with same result. Now, this website is take down. I know 20 pounds is not that much, but that's my third time when I've been robbed by eshop like this one. All of these 3 e-shops were private websites, not like amazon, ebay etc. Tell the true I really !!!!ed off. I not sure what I suposed to do in that case? Where I should go or call in situation like this one? I'm trying to imagine how many People were robbed like me? How much website like this one earn from robbing People? I don't want to live this case just like that. I feel like I should do something with this. Please, give me any ideas if you have been in similar case?

  • How did you pay?

When buying you need to check the site is legit. Check the site is secure when you go to pay (look at the address, it should say https, the s on the end is important. Also check for a padlock by the address).

There are so many unsafe and dodgy websites out there, you need to be careful.

Not only have the sites not delivered and taken your money, but they have your personal details and payment details too and it could be anyone at all who has them. If they're scamming/dodgy they're not going to be following the law on keeping details safe.

I'd keep an eye on your bank account just in case and don't sign up to or buy off any sites you've never heard and that aren't secure.

You could also report the people/sites/companies to Trading Standards. If they're scamming a lot of people they may already be aware of them.
  • If you go on https://www.whois.net/ and type in the web addresses for the sites that scammed you you may be able to find details about who the sites are registered to.
  • Really? You bought 3-5 books? 3 or 5? or 4?

    You've not been robbed.

I think in UK there is special organization which fights which this kind of People, but I don't know how to find them? Maybe even Police can help with situanion like this on. I know it's not a lot of money, but we talking here about rules and breaking a law.

@theonlywayisup That was exactly 4 books. I wasn't aware that number of books is the most important information here. So, you're saying that all is fine? And People like that Lady, she hasn't made anything wrrong?
  • It's not important in terms of the site being dodgy, but it makes people question your post when you don't know such a basic detail. If you've sent them 20-30 emails you really should know for sure.

Also, them not turning up doesn't mean you were scammed, they could have been lost in the post. As the site has vanished though it does look dodgy.

Karolina Tokarczyk appears to have several addresses and maybe a look around Ely or Basinstoke. Although they have a different addresses registered for the website.

Its easy to find people with a little help from google.

I have paid by PayPal website. I have all private information of this Person. Icluding company addresses etc. I'm not sure where I should to go now? To Police? Who is responsible for this kind of frauds from Internet?

Chances are it is a dodgy site, but if the items were just lost and the owner/staff not replying they'd just be a useless company when it comes to customer service.

Open a paypal case for item not received. You should get your money back.

As I said before, you could report them to Trading Standards.
