Been using Linux for a while so not had to worry about security but found the need to reinstall Windows.
I seem to remember AVG or Avast were about the best free ones at the time but wonder if anythings changed or are these still the ones to head for?

I still use Avast and find it to be great.
A while back I moved away from AVG because of a number of problems with false-positives.0 -
TBH I'm more than happy with MS Security Essentials/Defender, it does all that I need. Prior to that I've used Avira to good effect and I've heard good things about Qihoo 360.0

ive used avira for years now. I also install spybot and malware bytes, update and run the scans every now and again.0
