Hi,
Today I enrolled at University, studying Business Management (degree, full time). Like a little !!!!, I ignored everything, well almost everything concerning university other than applying for it and doing all the UCAS stuff.
Basically, I got told I have till end of November to pay the fees which is like £3,000, I thought we could pay it off in installments, hence, the reason why I didnt do more research into this.
To put a long story short, I am CONFUSED!! I get a GRANT which is something I can keep, right? a student LOAN is something I have to repay but not now and a BURSARY is well, dunno, something you have to be eligble to get? ARRGHH, I could have sat down with an advisor at the Uni today but for several reasons I had enough time to just enrol and get out of there, was the wrong day!
Im on Student Finance Direct as I write this......

Is this your first time at Uni - did you not apply for a student loan etc?2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0

Erm, I'm sorry to put the nail in the coffin by why didn't you apply? Get it sorted ASAP as you will find things v difficult. My uni won't register me without confirmation of my finance loan.0

Hi
If you have actually applied for a loan and been told by the SLC you are going to get it, then it will arrive in your bank account eventually. I know that sometimes this can be quite a while (some of my daughters friends had to wait till almost xmas cos the SLC were slow). Could you parents pay by credit card until you receive money, and yes it is usually payable in installments.0 -
Uhhh if you were getting a loan for the fees you would have been sent a letter with all your installment dates and told to take this to enrollment.
If you didnt apply for any student finance you may want to contact them, else your going to be working very hard to pay it off!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
I applied via Student Finance website, is that the correct way? Applied for a loan and grant as I remmember, but nothing through the post yet, only done this the other day...I was on their site yesterday and just saw that I had to send some proof of ID e.g. birth certificate or passport.
Should I send it special delivery? The passport that is. Would they send it back to me? Do I pay for return postage fee?

Oh dear moe,
You're going to be waiting a while if you only applied the other day.
Yes, send your passport Special Delivery, just in case Royal Mail loses it. Not the cheapest option, but definitely cheaper than replacing your passport!
Hope you get something sorted soon xGone ... or have I?0 -
It generally takes a good few months to sort out finance, hence why most apply back in April / May.Green and White Barmy Army!0

Was told by one of the Finance guys at Uni yesterday that it takes 4-6 weeks. I can pay the £3070 in total to be precise in one-go, which isnt so bad and then can get the loan which is interest fee and use that to repay my parent whome I would borrow the money off.
Is that ok? Then that way there shouldnt be a problem with the application take 2 or 4 months!0 -

The tuition fee loan gets paid directly to the university so you wouldn't be able to use it to pay your parents back unless you could get the university to refund your original payment.0 -

I would say 4-6 weeks is about right for this time of year, because most people will have already applied.
Do you have money to live off in the meantime?Gone ... or have I?0
