I changed my name after getting married just over a year ago.

I've changed about half of my accounts to my new name (some I haven't done because I don't want new cards issuing, others I don't use often and just haven't got round to it). I haven't changed with the electoral role yet.

It took a few weeks for my new name to appear as an alias on Clearscore, but haven't had any issues with applying for credit in my new name since both appeared on my credit report.

I dont think why I changed my name is relevant, but as its an online application I dont know if I can even apply in person

I assume they wont do a credit check in one name and the application in another.

I changed my name 7 years ago simply because i didn't like it AND if you did it correctly you would have read on the Deed Poll that you are supposed to renounce, surrender, never again, kick into touch ,abandon , deny all knowledge of, never again be known by your former name.

What on earth is the point of going through a name change then linking the former with the new???

All clap trap on here. i changed it with all the relevant parties, passport, bank cc, council EVERYONE! I have never had a problem since.

Applied for all new credit in my new name and never had an issue getting what i wanted. NONE of my credit reports show my old name. No links, nothing.

I need a link because I have quite a good credit score and dont want to come up with a 'thin' file....
  • Thanks a lot. I have updated my name on all accounts and with the council, so I will request a new score in my new name in a few months.
