Credit File and PayPal

Dear all,

I made a purchase a couple of days ago online. The website was having issues processing both debit card and credit card payments, so as a consequence I used my PayPal account.

Aware that there were no funds in there I moved sufficient funds into my linked current account.

The payment has now processed, but was declined from my linked current account due to insufficient funds. It instead took the money from my linked credit card.

This decline seems strange as I had money in the correct account, plus an overdraft facility which would have coped with the transaction.

Anyway, that's by the by. My query is whether this decline will show up on my credit file? My fixed term mortgage is due for renewal next April, and I'm concerned that this may have a knock on effect.

Kind regards

Rob

    No, it shouldn't.

After a fraud attack with PayPal, I was left with -£70 in my account. I refused to pay it and they were chasing me for months about it and even passed it over to a debt collection agency whom I still never even paid it back to them. They stopped asking me once I proved the police confirmation.

That was nearly two years ago and that never showed up on my credit score despite the debt collection agency getting involved.

So In all fairness, I don't think this will affect you. Though I would contact your bank and ask them what's going on if I was you
