Legally may be,seariously morally is a bit strong,

    No it isn't.

Legally and morally they are obliged to give you a refund.

They made a mistake and have offered you a return or the correct part which you would have to pay the correct amount for. You can't expect a company to give you £500 odd quid for a simple mistake!

I recently bought a new Ford Ka. The salesman assured me that it would be perfect for my family. When I got it home it was clear that the five of us would not fit in it. When I called them they agreed that the salesman had misinformed me and agreed to take the Ka back and suggested a Mondeo estate would be the car for me. I was happy with this until they told me I would need to pay an extra £15,000 for the Mondeo. Surely I should be entitled to it at the same price as the Ka as it was entirely their fault? Also can I sue them for the wages I will lose if I take a day off to go and do the swap?
You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.
  • It doesn't have to have 3 bar but like any shower will perform better with good pressure, BTW IMO that is a ridiculous price to pay for a shower set up.

If your plumber thinks it will be ok, and presuming he's a competent person who knows his trade, I'd possibly be taking his word over that of a random salesperson who hasn't seen my particular set up.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I'm too new to post links but I have checked the Burlington website and it states the below: "Minimum recommended pressure of 2 Bar"

So the shop quoting 3 bar required pressure is a little excessive. They can't expect anyone to pay another £350.00 for a different product and should be able to offer you a refund or a more similarly priced alternative. It worries me slightly that they haven't spent 2 minutes looking on the Burlington website or contacting them for advice.

Sounds like a trick for major up-selling to me.

Worth bearing in mind though, if OP has been advised it is not suitable and then proceeds to have it fitted and it turns out not to work very well they will have pretty much no comeback with the supplier and the window to return it would have closed.
  • Bathroom retailer contacted me today and confirmed,in writing that the shower mixer they sold me was suitable.
They contacted burlington technical, who confirmed it was suitable.
The sales brochure does state 2 and 3 bar min pressure, the actual minimum required pressure is 1.5.
many thanks to all with constructive criticism,my gran always told me,criticism makes you a stronger person and never take it to hart.
As for the BS comparisons, she would say to them, are you serious and never by a Ford KA because its too small for a family of five.
    Wise lady my gran
  • Good that you've got it in writing, so you should have some come back if you have problems with it.
  • Told the bathroom retailer, before i do fit,i will get my plumber to carry out pressure test, just to make sure
